914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Listing to one side

My 1972 914 is listing to
one side. In other words, the driver's side is noticeably lower than
the passenger side -- over one inch. Any suggestions as to what it
could be and how to fix it? Thanks.

Hopefully the car isn't rusty (they have been known to break in half.)

Maybe just a broken torsion bar or something? Or a spring collar in the back, or height adjuster in the front, has slipped out of its setting?

Check to see if the rear springs slipped out of the perches so they don't seat right.
If you have adjustable rear perches, one side slipped.
Have you adjusted the front T-bars ride height?
Have you had the passenger long repaired?

I have a less severe case of that....my right rear strut is losing its oil....and also the springs are sagging....(already ordered replacements!) look at the rear suspension on each side

Thanks to all. No rust. [Honest.] That's why I bought it last fall. When I took it to a mechanic [of course, after I bought it] to check her over, he told me it probably rolled at some point. Maybe that's it but I'll check out your other suggestions. I've tackled the tranny, am rebuilding the carbs, will be putting in a new master cylinder when it finally warms up here [I will not try to bleed brakes when its below freezing], putting the exhaust system back together, and will have to do some rewiring... but...I don't know anything about the suspension. Can you give a newbie some pointers? Thanks

Could be a lot of things.....one BAD thing is rust in the longitudinals.
Have you thoroughly inspected the car for rust worms? The usual rust
induced sag is on the passenger side, but the driver side is not exempt.

Are you sure the driver side is sagging or is the passenger side TOO
HIGH????

Start looking under the carpets.......other not so bad things are old saggy
springs, slipped perches on the shocks, misaligned springs from when you
last lifted one side of the car......
