Was ist Glühwein?

Posted by: Qarl Nov 19 2003, 12:00 AM

Vor drei Jahren, gewann ich einen Bierbrauenwettbewerb!

Es war ein Bier wie Guiness Stout!

Posted by: Bruce Allert Nov 19 2003, 12:00 AM

Posted by: Qarl Nov 19 2003, 12:02 AM

Is that the spiced red wine, serverd hot/warm?

Posted by: SirAndy Nov 19 2003, 12:06 AM

Glühwein:
take 1 1/2 liter of cheap-o-redwine, heat it up until boiling,
add "Glühweingewürz" (a special assortement of spices, which is the tricky part, had my mom send me some from germany), add sugar if you like, let it steep for a while ...

drink while HOT!

traditional german drink for the winter-time. makes you feel very warm & fuzzy. smile.gif

Used to go with a gal. We drank Glühwein after we went to the woods and cut Chrismas trees. Built a fire in the snow, middle of the trees, heat it in a tin pot, stir with cinamon sticks. Ummmmmm!!!

Cut trees first. Chainsaws and Glühwein don't mix. wink.gif

We did that stuff when skiing in Austria and Germany....3 glasses then hit the slopes. Made it easier to ski in shorts on the sunny glaciers and piss off the locals. Great fun....

Let's do an impromptu 914 breakfast (I know officially we won't have one until Jan.) and have Andy bring some of that Glühwein. It sounds good! beer.gif (I had to settle for chardonay last night sad.gif )

Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

I probably don't have the time or the money but it sure sounds like fun.

Maybe I could pull it off.

I've always wanted to learn to ski.

Posted by: Jenny Nov 19 2003, 12:46 PM

Yes! Especially if there's a cabin involved. Lets! I'll bet Fiid would want to as well. He'd mentioned a ski trip earlier.

That's why god gave me a stellar credit rating, I reckon.

If I let that kind of thing stop me from doing stuff, I'd never leave the house. Damn the torpedos - if we can work it out, let's do it. I am always jonesing to get out of town at the end of the semester no matter what. All I need is an excuse, and this sounds like a good one!

Posted by: Brad Roberts Nov 19 2003, 02:04 PM

I'm in.

We also need to hold a Novato breakfast weekend after Thanksgiving.

We dont have a table to sit around. Let me chat with Lyressa today and find out what she wants to do.

Any further definition of said breakfast????

Posted by: Brad Roberts Nov 19 2003, 02:37 PM

Marty,

I will start another thread with more details. I'm currently trying to think of a decent eating place that can serve 20 people with decent parking up here.

It will be the Saturday after Thanksgiving (Dec 6th) If you want a tee sooner.. I can meet you somewhere this weekend.

B

Posted by: Brad Roberts Nov 19 2003, 02:38 PM

Andy,

Lyressa said our place is fine and we will invite Britain also. Bring one dish to be cooked or bring it ready to warm up.

I always ride much better after a couple of Glühweins laugh.gif
Can we make it Val d'Isère ??

Posted by: Marty Yeoman Nov 19 2003, 02:45 PM

Brad,
I am not in any big rush for the tee. My car is functional as is. I am just looking for parts for my next garage session. Maybe we can transfer $/parts thru the mail?? If not at the next get togeather.

Posted by: Brad Roberts Nov 19 2003, 02:51 PM

now there's an idea idea.gif

it's pretty lightweight too. 2 people can lift it easily.
Andy

Posted by: Brad Roberts Nov 19 2003, 03:05 PM

Sold. We will bring your table here.

Maybe we should drink ourselves silly. Britain can stay in the downstairs room and you and Shannon can take the guest room with the flannel sheets.

I have a ton of liquer that people give us every Christmas that hasnt been touched (we dont drink very often unless its beer).
