agree.gif With Tony. They had Nike sites all along the west coast until the '60's and that one looks to be in the bay area.

BTW Tony, as you drive along the San Pedro part of the PV drive, there are a bunch of old 16" gun implacements.

When I was a kid we use to go down there and watch the asians (no dis-respect intended) pluck the snails from the ivy that grew around them.

They would occasionally fire them off for testing, and believe me, it would shake the shit out of our windows. I remember it really well even though I was only 6 or 7 at the time. Scared the stromberg.gif out of me...

Yea just north of San Francisco...

Yea tony you got the right idea...

I have said "It is not _____" to all the places it is not. Note the exclusion(s)

i.e. think the country shaped like a boot. Question is, where in that country?

Posted by: crash914 Jan 10 2007, 12:22 PM

how about milano?

and I was going to say madrid too.....

Posted by: TonyAKAVW Jan 10 2007, 12:45 PM

Ding Ding Ding. Milan is correct. Its a tricky one, because its not really the prototypical Italian looking city (like Rome or Florence).

I doubt its France, or Portugal. None of the current license plate designs in those countries are plain white, they all seem to have the EU ring of stars...

http://www.worldlicenseplates.com/

Actually. Could be Italy. I don't know if that Merc. could be a 99, (appears to be the last year they issued those plates) but the car in front of it might have the blue bars on either side of the plate.

I'm going to have to go with Gustl....

Posted by: jd74914 Jan 11 2007, 10:35 AM

Yup . . . Gustl's right, the car was in front of the Hotel Eden in Sorrento Italy. The water is almost right across the street.

nope - I've never been to the Netherlands so far ...

Posted by: TonyAKAVW Jan 11 2007, 01:30 PM

Confirmed. It is Dublin. Whew, that was a tough one to solve. The red door on the church nailed it.

edit: Specifically, St. Anne's Church on Ann Street South.

Well, first thing I did was to look at the pay phones. There are web sites that show pictures of pay phones from around the world. Unfortunately that didn't help much. I noticed some signs had some english in them, none were useful though. Then I tried looking up gothic churches and cathedrals of which there were far too many. Then I noticed the door on the church was red. I did a search for red door church and I ended up at photo album web sites of peoples' vacations. Sure enough I found a few of that church. One of them was sharp enough to make out the St. Anne's Church sign on the front.
