What is the racing trick to keep these sucker tight???
Is it just part of weekly maintenance???
Or, is there a fabbed kit out there to put in longer bolts and a nylon nut on the back?
Or, how about drilling out the heads and wiring them in somehow?????
Rich
Use the factory style correct lock washers....
Use New ones.
b
Yes yes. Make sure the new ones you use are super-clean before you install them, make sure you use the proper torque.
I haven't had a lose one in just over 13,000 miles.

M
Are these the wavy washers or conventional lock washers??
I have both in the box of bolts from my 914's, just want to use the right ones.....
Rich
I believe that the washers are narrowand seriated. We also use the 2 hole plate. Once torqued. they seem to stay tight, but we check them every other race or so. (While road racing does not stress them that much, missed down shifts and bumps while accellerating can be sharp loads.)
But the trick in my opinion.. is to use New or nearly new washers...
I think you can order a set of new washers for about 5 bucks... a pretty economical safety investment.
brant
Thanx, found em,,,, look worn out I think a new set is in order.
Rich
Saw a set someplace....had holes drilled it the heads for safety wires.
But with proper washers "I" never had a set work loose....

Karl..
why in the world would you order that damn many ?? You need 16 total for the CV's and 12 total for the rear control arms.....LOL
B
That killed me too...
I don't think I have ever owned that many, total, ever.
M
I like to make necklaces out of them.
Actually they were cheap. Anybody want some schnorr washers?
You need to get to sleep, so you can work tomorrow, so you can afford to keep them.
M
ha ha
Damn it Miles... let me be depressed... stop making me laugh...
B
Yeah yeah... make your fun.
If you can find a cure for my insomnia and anxiety that would be great.
Well, just to let you know... I stopped by the PC after I went to take a wizz. I looked down at the toilet and thought of you guys!
