You must be referring to the stainless factory alloy center cap. If so remove the wheel spray wd-40 around the inside perimeter of the cap and with a small blunt brass drift, tap around the perimeter edge of the cap until it loosens and moves outward. When reinstalling grease the cap's shaft and tap home with a rubber hammer

Lube the inner and outer....I like using a large diameter wooden dowel, PVC pipe or socket with an extension that fills the interior of the cap....tap gently with a non-rebound mallet.

\we have never been able to get this to work without damaging the brand new flawlessly flat cap tops!! we are scared to get anywhere near the top of the cap. Always seems to easily distort.

Clay Perrine showed me his trick about 5 years ago. a 12" piece of 2" pvc. One end has the outside diameter turned down to fit in the wheels center opening. pushes it right out. The other end has the inside turned so it fits over the cap and rest on the flange that seats it to the wheel. Works awesome and you will never damage the cap.

Thanks Clay,
Curt

Want picts? We keep them in the front of Betty's car in case we have a flat and have to have it fixed at a tire monkey shop.

Use a 2" PVC coupling to re-install. Works great.
