914World.com _ 914World Garage _ 914 WI/IL get together. This summer

Posted by: 736conver Jan 27 2007, 09:00 PM

Anybody interested in getting together again this summer in June.
I sold my car to Mike Z but would still like to have another get together. It was a good time.
I still have a 914 in the garage just not mine.
We had over 20 people last year and about 15 Porsches lets get the same or bigger turnout.
We also had Cousins Subs and GPR step and offer food and part discounts, maybe I can get some more stuff rolling this year.
Lets also get a little swap meet going, I have lots of parts still laying around in the garage and back shed.
Anybody interested in doing this again?? I got the place, food and the curvie roads.

In the town of Mukwonago, SE Wisconsin. It 20 minutes south from Milwaukee and about 2 hours north from Chicago.

Couldn't make it last year, but I'll try this year. Actually, Ellen and I were just up in Big Bend today (in the Volvo) at Waynz World. My son the volleyball player forgot his shoes...

If you guys don't mind a "Former Cheesehead" coming up, I'll talk to the wife.
She's always looking for a reason to get back to WI to visit her folks in Fond du Lac. We take Hwy 43 north thru Milwaukee so this would be right on our way.

Oh yeah, glad to hear Farve is still in the game. clap56.gif

Ok! dibs on the trail dragger! ChrisPaegelow can use the /4, and you drive the v8! Another logistics problem solved.
Er, that means Jackie has to drive my '74 2.0 up in the Indiana/Chicago caravan. New logistical problem!

We had several non-914 Porsches last year, including 356, 911, 912, and 944. And one muscular specimen of domestic iron.

I'm still expecting to be there.
My car is not running yet this season. I've been trying since February to get it to Brad Mayeur in Peoria. Was hoping to use it for our Memorial Day camping trip to Governor Dodge park in WI but no luck. I'm praying I will have it sorted out in time for this gathering!

Not running? How is that possible? What is wrong?

How about another bump to remind people that the date is set for the 30th of June.
Sounds like a great time.

It's a 914!

I never got the backfiring/power loss/idle issues sorted out that popped up at the end of last summer. Before he moved back to Cali, Chris helped me set the dwell and timing, but it didn't last. I need a valve adjustment as well prior to the ignition stuff, and need to install my SS heat exchangers and Bursch. I figured to have Brad give it a thorough look but he hasn't been towards Chicago in awhile and I haven't been able to get it to him. These days (Maddie's great!) I just don't have the time or will to try to stumble through this stuff myself. I might try to limp it to the local bug shop just to get it in shape to drive to ~halfway to Brad but I didn't really have a good vibe about the place when they did my rear brake lines.

Posted by: smontanaro May 24 2007, 05:22 AM

Dan,

At this point I'm still planning to go. You can ride with me (though I need to fix a leak from the transmission - prolly the usual speedo o-ring thing). I'm up in Evanston.

Sorry to hear about the troubles. Valve adjustments are bad enough but heat exchangers even worse. I wish we were closer. I could give you a hand. If you want to drag it to South Elgin, maybe we could spend a day on it.

I'll try to get there!

Posted by: BigDBass Jun 3 2007, 10:01 PM

I handed my 914 over to Brad Mayeur this morning. That's the first crucial step in having my FIB car up there in the land of cheese!
