I'm going to try and adjust my valves here shortly and I assume I'm going to need to replace the gaskets sence I don't know how long it's been sence the PO adjusted the valves . But can I get a set at the local VW shop for a 1.7 or do I have to order from somewhere and if so where? cuz I have no clue where to start

Now the fun will begin this will be the first time adjusting valves . I can turn a wrench but being new to the 914 thing doesn't help ......

it aint too tough, though I could never figure out the Cap'n Technique to my satisfaction and did it the old fashioned way, one cylinder at a time

HOLY COW ,

THANKS to EVERYBODY on there input into this chore ESPECIALLY
to the CAP 'n for that AWSOME thread with the wife turning the wheel
and me under the car it worked out SWEET . Now the car runs
smooth .
