Am looking at changing out the crap tires on my 4 lug Fuchs for some with grip. I want to go with 205 60 15s. I have SO3s on my other car, and like them for wet and dry, but they really give no clue before they break away. With a 914, I don't want to risk becoming a top with SO3s. What would you guys recommend for a grippy wet/dry tire that gives some notice before losing grip?
Edit: These tires are for fast back road use, no track duty. Wear rating doesn't matter.

Problem is.. Most of the seriously sticky street rubber absolutely sucks in the wet.
Why do you want to run 60 series tires?

I'm on my 3rd set of Kumho Ecsta Supra 712's on m WRX. I love them for several reasons.
Lots of warning that they're ready to get loose- you can hear them and feel them before they let go.
They're cheap.
They stick pretty good- about 90% as good as my old Dunlops, but 60% of the price.
They're really great in the rain- I really have to work at it to get them to slip around in the wet, they have never hydroplaned.
They come in lots of sizes.

They're not very good in the dirt, but they're not designed to be and I spend about 0.00001% of the time on dirt roads- not a positive, but whatever.

My last set was $275.00 for 4, from the tire rack, with a shop discount and shipping included.
The shop discount was about 15%, the tire rack will give a discount to just about anyone with a business license and a credit card. You can go get a business license for "bonehead racing" or whatever, like I did, really easily.
I'm down in Pierce County. Have been very happy with my Yoko ES100's. Good all-weather performance. Haven't busted them loose on the street except on intentional power slides in the wet. 205/55/16's up front; 225/50/16's out back.
I like my S03's on the 914. Not too much wet weather driving down here, but the few times I have driven in the wet there wasn't ever a scary moment.
the Zexius that les schawb(sp) sells work very well for an all around in western wa. not a *grippy* ax tire but predictable, non-directional, relatively quiet. the 195/60 are a nice fit on the 15x5.5 wheels and the right backspacing. my potenzas were the worst in the wet. 0 warning

Kumho V700 Ecsta. Great rain tire great dry tire. perfect for curvy back roads on a weekend driver car.
205-50-15 fits 4 lug Fuchs real nice.
Yes it is a DOT R tire but hey you wanted sticky and someone said tread wear don't matter.
Or the Advan 048 ??? comes on the Elise.
A second plus for the Kumhos. No, not the DOT R tires, but those are great too. They have some really great, and cheap, performance street tires.

Actually willing to go to a 55 series. So that would not be an issue.
The Kumho's look mucho affordable compared to the SO3s and the Yokos. I had Kumho's on an AWD car and the only thing I didn't like was the noise, but then they were on 18s.
