914World.com _ 914World Garage _ cable maintence HOWTO

I have installed a speedo and clutch cable in my car sometime ago.

I remember the clutch cable having some sheath and not needing oil (I remember now...it has a nylon sheath)

The speedo cable didnt have anything as I remember....does it need to be oiled? And would running it for about a few months damage it?

I have a Terry throttle cable, which I assume requires NO oil (from reading pelican's description)

help?

When I replaced my speedo cable I didn't lube anything.

Seemed to work fine.

I like to shoot some graphite into the sheaths of cables before I install them. It won't gum up and keeps them sliding forever, or like 10 years in the bug, and they are notorious for bad accelerator cables
