914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Return oil tubes on a 6 cyl.

Posted by: xsurfer Mar 18 2007, 03:39 PM

Using SILICONE Spray. instead of oil in conjuction with hose clamps and a spreader clamp made the job simple. I could not get the tubes to move with a reasonable effort without the SILICONE SPRAY.

Anybody know the correct way to install these things. They don't slide out too easy after you get them small enough to get between the head and the case?

I've got oil on them as per shop manual.

Thanks.

If you don't want to use pliers to grip the tube directly you can use hose clamps. Put the clamps on each section of the tube and grab the screw housing of the clamp with pliers. Less chance of crushing the tube if you use clamps.

Look at the pelican parts story on these as well. The clamps sound good not to crush them.
