914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Admin Content Suggestion

Posted by: r_towle Mar 21 2007, 11:31 AM

In the upper area where the 914 info button is currently, inside there is a place for technical articles.

Can you please add links to both PAnders DJet site, and the LJet site (I cant remember or find it)

That way its always there for others to find/use.

To make this easy, just cut and paste...

Djet

It's been seen Rich. The original intent for that area of the site is what is being discussed in the

http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=69924

We will likely be discussing this amongst the admins in the coming days/weeks.

NP, I didnt want to make this a big deal, nor create a large project idea that becomes a difficult thing to achieve without loads of time invested.

I was hoping to make this minor suggestion to make a small little simple change to the site to make it a bit more user centric.

So, if you can peel this idea out of the larger discussion, it becomes just a link, and should not be confused with a project that will create alot of extra work for you guys who are volunteering.

Thanks for replying...I felt unloved and igonored...

LOL

I understand on all counts. There is a new thread in the admin area and we will continue to discuss the issue both there and here in the garage.

Update Rich. Working on the Technical Articles section specifically. But I'm also going to pursue with the admin team a place to put links to member's or other sites that are of particular interest to 914world members (like Brad Anders site).

Could we please encourage anyone who is familiar with html to help write some tech articles? Or... if you're not an html expert, could you help capture some of the data from some of the classic threads you'd like to see up there? Drop it, properly formatted, into a Word doc. and we can find someone to convert it. We have an html template if you'd like to give it a shot. I did it... so can you. wink.gif

Request for volunteers. confused24.gif

Please? wub.gif

In the next week or so, here is what I am planning to do.
If this fits, I will document it.

Remove and replace front end.

So,
Bearings R/R adjust
Ball joints R/R
Tie Rods---> turbo tie rods
Steering Rack bump steering kit
Front A-arm plastic bushings--->bearings

I will document this last one, just for a few of us who have been trying
Adding a pillow block and bearing setup to stop the anti-sway bar from hitting the gas tank.

And on Rockets car...Closed door paint job. Cheap and fast. 2 days.

Word docs are a pita to convert. I would prefer simple text. You don't have to be an expert in html to use it given the simple layout we have for tech docs as Mark posted in the other thread.

Simple text in this layout would be AWESOME! And pics 800x600 or less in size.

Here's a quick template for formatting the pages:

CODE
<h2>This is the title of the article</h2>
<br>
This is the introduction to the article describing what we will cover here, how long it should take, how hard it is, etc.<br>
<br>
<b>Step 1: name of step</b><br>
<br>
This is the first step/section.<br>
<img src="THIS IS THE URL FOR AN IMAGE"><br>
<br>

<b>Step 2: name of step</b><br>
<br>
This is the second step/section. Copy and paste for each step.  Feel free to delete the <IMG> line if there is no image, or to add multiple <IMG> lines if you want.<br>
