That's because 904s used Saab tail lights ..............
Had you asked, I coulda told you that. One of those things stuck firmly in my mind from somewhere deep in the past .............. The Cap'n

Wow your 904 Kit looks Sweet. I was just wondering what such a beast would cost to build... I understand if you dont want to say ... I typically bow out when people ask how much my 74 911 cost to build.

The 904 kit, basic body parts and a bare chassis cost me around $12K, a used
2.0 ltr 914 rusted out cost $200 which I used 95% of the parts from it.

I must say, (sorry George), the Beck 904 looks a lot less like a 914 over the AA 9014. Could you enlighten me as to what you used from a 914 chasis & body? Also, what exactly comes w/ the Beck 904 kit? Thanks. Looks great & I'm now on the list of people who can't wait to see it when it's done .

When we needed 904 tail lights at Vern Covert's shop (THE 904 expert in the 70's) we got 'em from Saab. What you may be seeing are manufacturing differences, or possibly production changes. The original stock has likely been replaced by more recent production. The Cap'n

People are using Saab tail lights because they are SAE approved for use in the
USA. The 904 was never approved for operation in the USA. When I got my
car inspected for street use the rules said the light must be SAE or DOT approved.
