914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Introducing our newest sponsor - Mobile Works West

Posted by: nine14cats Apr 4 2007, 04:40 PM

Barrick Pickering Racing would like to introduce our newest sponsor -- Mobile Works West!

Mobile Works West
is a Traditional Porsche Specialist owned by Tom Amon. Many of you may remember Tom from his days as owner of T&D Performance in Campbell. Tom was a two-time SCCA Regional Road Race Champion driving a 400HP 935 bodied 911 earlier in his career and built the 240HP 2.7 liter motor in the 914-6 that Doris and I drove in Time Trials and AX's.

Tom is now bringing his air-cooled expertise to your door. He is outfitted with everything he needs to do simple preventative maintenance items to full blown engine rebuilds and car restorations. Tom is currently building our race prepped 901 with all the goodies for The Beastâ„¢ and will be helping sort the car when we get it back on track. Tom also rebuilt the motor in Fritz (our track 911) in two weeks and once again, the car is blazing fast.

If you have an air-cooled 911 or 914-6 street or race car, don't hesitate to call Tom and have him show up at your front door. No more hassles of coordinating dropping off your car at your mechanic. And he doesn't mind you watching and learning about your automobile! For more testimonials of his great work just search over at the Pelican site under his name. Lots of pictures to go along with the reviews. Give Tom a call at (408) 429-0545 or e-mail him at: MobileWorksWest@aol.com

Cool! I have their card in my glove box. Maybe if I can't track down my "fuel pump not on" by this Sunday I will give in to my intense desire to be back on the road and call them beerchug.gif

Probably not...

Jackstands must look a lot like small scud missles when x-rayed. biggrin.gif

Fade In:

Security: Sir, what is that in your suitcase?

He: It's a hydraulic jack.

Security: Sir, does it have any fluids or liquid substances in it?

And welcome Tom.

Fuch....

I still can't figure out my amazing exploding oil filter problem. There is a local person here who supposedly knows something, but he's had my car for 3wk now and hasn't touched it yet. headbang.gif

A housecall from a true expert would have been nice.

I gave Tom a call. He seems like a really nice guy, but he says he doesn't work on 914's. sad.gif

Tom is a great guy with lots of knowledge. I am sure he will be a great asset to your team. He built my 3.0 six quite a few years ago as well as rebuilt my tranny and did a lot of welding on my silver flared car. I lost track of Tom after I moved away from San Jose. Welcom Tom! glad to see you are still around.

confused24.gif hey bill, you reading this?

Yep...my mistake. He doesn't work on the 4 bangers anymore. If you have a 914-6 or a 911, Tom will take care of you. As part of his business model he chose 6 cylinder power plants and the associated air-cooled car. No water pumpers.

Since many 914 owners have a 911 or a 914-6, Tom can still help out.

Sorry for the confusion. blink.gif My life has been a blur the last month... laugh.gif I have edited my first post to reflect the 914-6 / 911 focus.

Thanks,

Bill P.

Hi Mike,

That's a nice rig. I see a BMW in the trailer, does he work on later model BMW's like a 2002 5 series? My wife's car is about to go out of warranty, so no more dealer visits.... laugh.gif
