Posted by: rick 918-S Dec 1 2003, 07:59 PM

I just recieved the Faxed copy of the invoice from Family Motors. I am very pleased with them. After all the wait they really came though.

The total of the repair at retail: $ 6351.71
After the Discount: $ 4493.28
total savings: $ 1858.43

The van was promised for Wednesday. I just got off the phone with Brad. He is committed to traveling to pick up the Van Wednesday afternoon if he can get someone to give him a lift. Anyone that can assist please step forward and post here.

I will call the dealer one more time on Wednesday and be sure the Grommits came in. Brad will be waiting to here from me after the call.

Thank you all for the support and consideration you've giving me in my quest to see this thru. We did this together, ALL OF US! Give your self a hand! Thanks to Brad for steping up to the challange. Thanks to Dave and his family for Letting us help!

One more step! Get the Van to DAVE!

Over the next couple of weeks I wiil be speaking with Brad about a possible promo for
Family VW. Lets see if we can make them part of our family!

To all who pitched in, no matter how much or how little, WELL DONE! You should all feel very proud of yourselves.

Thanks Rich!.... no really... thank you.

Thanks to EVERYONE else that helped with this project. Every little bit helped. No donation was too big, nor too small.

See... a bunch of oddball Porsche owners CAN make a difference.

I want photos of the delivery celebration!!!!!

And a 914club sticker has to be plastered on that car before it's delivered.

Now we are talking! Yeah! Damned straight!

Dave, if I get up to Washington can I get a Ride in the van?

Posted by: rick 918-S Dec 1 2003, 09:28 PM

Brad, This was posted in the nailed Van Dash Post. this may be the help you are looking for.
I cut and pasted it here.

Brad, just let me know if you need a ride and to where; this retirement is making me "stir-crazy". If needed, I can move on a one day notice or less. Things are working out. Christmas can happen any day of the year. This a very, very nice thing that the contributors from all sources are making for Dave; even they are getting a xmas present by participating in this activity

THis is really great news. Thanks everyone!

Brad, Here's another offer from carrera916: just moved it out of the Dash for Cash post.

Brad,

If needed, I can hop after two on Friday to either fetch the van from south or drive her up north over the weekend. Only bad part is that the wife with kids keeps the good car and i'm stuck with the bad one that can only be driven locally.

I can drive up the van and take the bus home if it can be factor in with the expense. I'm fully aware the van bill is a bit higher than the contribution so I might fork the expense to take a ride home....just let me know if I fit in the driving crew...as least I could help Dave out with my engery more than I can throw in cold cash....

Thank you Lord...... thank you everyone clap56.gif

I would like to follow the van up to Seattle or even drive if need be. A caravan of 914's going into Seattle and up to the delivery door would be nice on video. I got a camera.

I just got up to date, after the long holiday. I must say this news will help tremendously.

See, my wife's grandparents are both dying from cancer. Grampa has a week left (if we're lucky). Gramma's cancer came back. Don't know the time frame.

All this stuff with death keeps it on my mind. More than normal. I worry about my family, ya know, after I kick the bucket. What will my wife & kids do ?? What kind of animal will my spirit become wink.gif ?? Just trying to lighten the mood tongue.gif .

A very special Thank You to everyone.

I just realized were still just short of making the payment on this van. We need about $ 100.00 bucks to get the van out of the shop. And we need tranportation money to get it to Dave's family and get Brad and who ever else does the leg work back home.

Brad, Did you ever track down the people that offered to make up the balance? Or do we need to sell something? pray.gif Anyone have an organ to action? laugh.gif laugh.gif

Okay that should get the van out of the shop. We should also keep abreast of where Dave is day to day , he might end up in Hillsboro, and not Seattle. Since the last posting on the condition of his Grandparents. I think they live in Hillsboro.
Congrats to all.

Delivery to Hillsboro would cut 3-4 hours outta the trip. They'd need away to get both vehicle back tho headbang.gif
