914World.com _ 914World Garage _ We're having a PARTY in MOAB

Posted by: TROJANMAN Jul 17 2007, 11:08 AM

(i get tired of looking for the old thread)

Our host hotel is going to be http://www.laquintamoab.com/
La Quinta Inn - 815 S. Main Street - Moab, Utah 84532 - 435.259.8700

Rooms are $95 +tax

I have 35 rooms reserved, but I suggest you book soon, because we used all of them last year, and every other hotel in Moab seems to be booked this year.
If there is a problem booking a room, please send me a pm, and I'll fix it for you.

When you call in, tell them you are with the clubNARP or 914World group, and you will receive the discounted rate.

We are trying to work out the event registration fee right now, and are waiting for price quotes from the restaurants. As you know, all of the money from last year went to all of your meals, and anything left over was donated to CHARITY. Last year's recipient of the charity funds ($1500) cried at the presentation. It was pretty moving.

We anticipate the registration fee for the event will be no more than $70 this year.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Looking forward to another fantastic time in Moab this year with 914's from all over the country.

Make sure you mark these dates on your calender now:

September 21-23...................... wavey.gif

Moab has some incredible mountain roads and scenery like no other in the country.
Should be another fantastic time in MOAB this year. beerchug.gif

Looking forward to the rolling beer kegs on hotel luggage carts again.

Event registration is $60/per person

registration can be paid in the form of check or paypal, but no credit card paypals.
(sorry cash paypal only so we save the 3% fee's)

To register, please send me a direct email to:

brant914@hotmail.com

Include names/number of attendee's and any questions.
upon receipt, I'll reply to you with my home address for checks, or info for paypal and get you into the list. Also if you have any questions you can use this thread or email me direct.

Wow ohmy.gif

Did you guys call the local number, or the 800 number?
The local number is what we've been using.

They have actually been very accomadating.

I'll call my contact in the morning and let them know. Maybe they'll give us a bigger discount rolleyes.gif

but let me know that you made your reservation, so that she can reference it wink.gif

Posted by: GWN7 Jul 31 2007, 09:12 PM

I called and got some woman yelling at her kids in Spanish.

Hung up.

Called back got a very nice girl who took my reservation.

Posted by: jim_hoyland Jul 31 2007, 10:14 PM

Made an early reservation, just contacted Brant to pony up some fees ?

Looking forward to another cool 914 event

I did get a room. Had to call the 800#, they try tell they were full and then they said there was no club rate for us. But we got a room that's all that counts. I did call the local number the 1st time I got the girl telling me I would have to call back and the 2nd time I got the guy telling he was to busy.

You have to look at it from their side also. If they were in the middle of a big rush and had lots of people checking in and out when they get a phone call, who do they service first. Hard to answer. Isn't it better to tell you they are busy and to call back or to put you on hold for a long time?

I've the same type of problem at an auto parts store. I am in the middle of being helped, they are looking up parts for me and the phone rings. They stop to answer the phone and go on to answer that persons questions. Pisses me off. I asked a friend who works at a parts store why they did that. He told me that he knows how much of a sale I will be making from the questions I have already asked, he doesn't know how much of a sale the phone will bring. It might be a $1000.00. So they answer the phone.

My apologies to those that called last night and had troubles with registering.
It turns out that the girl you probably spoke to is working her last shift tonight.
The hotel manager is going to have a word with her about last night's phone calls.

If you would like to call back during the day, please call the (435) number and ask for Kelly or Cindy.

I'm hoping my new hi-torque mini-starter will finally put an end to the need for such maneuvers. Two years in a row is embarrassing. I figure this year is my year to give back by pushing someone else!

Don't worry, it's not in the driving events forum on NARP either.

I think Brant has 25+ registrations so far. Most of the regulars have yet to register, but we figure they are shoe ins.

I don't remember what the cut off date is, but this year, it will effect what you get in your goody bag. I have to order that stuff pretty soon. wink.gif

I just spoke to the HOTEL.

Our group reserved 27 rooms. The remaining rooms were given back to their National reservation desk. However, I sweet talked them into giving us 5 MORE ROOMS for reservations. If you have not booked a room, you only have 9 days to do so. She said that the hotel is pretty much full at this point, so this is a last chance offer wink.gif

Hey Trojanman! I got a warning that they are doing construction on the La Salle Loop road. There is a 100 mile bicycle ride that is planned for October 6th.

Here is a snippet:

The Bridge is still out! We announced the final word a month ago that the Federal Highway Administration's construction of the bridge along the LaSal Loop road used previously at the Moab Century Tour would not be ready in time for the October 6th ride.

I don't know the exact route you have planned but I thought you would like to know that there is a bridge out and you can't complete a loop.

Thanks. I'll have to call the forest service. I am trying to remember where there was a bridge on the loop idea.gif

The LaSal loop road runs off of 128 and then back to 128 (a loop). But 128 should be open.

I called the restaurant, and they said the road does not loop through. No biggie. We have alternatives smile.gif
