914World.com _ 914World Garage _ OT: Is it slow?

Posted by: DEC Oct 17 2007, 09:31 AM

Hi all
Since a few weeks the time to loading the 914-World site is
very long.

Is this an oversea or an overall problem?

DSL

Are you noticing problems with other graphically intensive pages?

Most likely an over seas thing. Here in the USA it is fast. Depending on the way your ISP in Germany has the routing it Either goes to an undersea cable or satelite. With satelites the ping times go way up so for each connection you make to a page there is going to be a longer delay.

DSL

well, DSL might be a little more "speed sensitive" idea.gif
I use a HSDPA connection, which is slower in general - so I don't recognize variations in speed that much ...
my maximum speed is at 7.2 Mbps, but in real live it's much slower dry.gif

Running slower than crap for me too...

Something has changed

My workaround is to not logon using AOL but to open internet explorer and roadrunner ...

Jakes site used to blow up from AOL too.

Every so often, I get a CANNOT DISPLAY PAGE error.

Has been happening since the crash a couple days ago...

I run a T1 connection

Posted by: kwales Oct 17 2007, 07:57 PM

It is much worse tonight. Tried AOL , get 914 world mainpage, get to the forum, but it then it craps out when I select a forum topic. Runs for minutes and minutes and then stops.

I think there are Animated Pectron issues in the WORLD'S service area.

When I ping this website.
I get a picture of Alpha's sister or Aaron's moms personal website URL.

I dunno... it seems like the pectrons are winning the battle for connectivity.

Must go back into the shelter and get food now. Talk to you later.

Now where is my foil hat...??????????????????

This is not comforting. The problem could be a matter of syncronization. I suggest drinking less coffee and eating more valium. That should equalize things better. biggrin.gif

IMHO, this is all subjective. Post a traceroute from your location if you really want to help find a problem. If you don't know what traceroute is then try google or wikipedia.

Posted by: Pat Garvey Oct 19 2007, 01:59 PM

Me too.

Keep getting timeout errors most of the time when I try to respond, like now - this probably won't post.

Pages are taking almost 5 minutes to load!

Something's up & I don't have a firewall.

sometimes slower, sometimes not, on dial up. i get the same error warning, esp when returning to view other threads in the garage or switching between forums. going to another site, and coming back to the home page, things run as fast as ever.

Yes - I'm seeing funny stuff too. Slow page loads. Maybe the DB is getting ready to puke again or whatever made it crash the first time is beginning to manifest again.

Posted by: alpha434 Oct 19 2007, 03:57 PM

We're being hacked.

I'm sure andy's on it.

I haven't experienced any issues with speed. It's normal as ever. What's "hijacked" mean?

Posted by: JPB Oct 20 2007, 06:03 AM

Glad i ain't the only one here i thought it was my slow ass dial up and a four year old computer full of trash. This morning, it is very good but during traffic hours, all fuched up she is. large consumption of malt beverages will make things go faster specailly when one needs to look at the screen with one eye open with one foot on the ground to keep the room from spinning. beer.gif

admins addressing the problem yet?

Posted by: DEC Oct 20 2007, 12:05 PM

It's fast like never before. smilie_pokal.gif

I think the problem is fixed. beerchug.gif

Andy, can you tell us what you have done?
