I'd like to do a group distribution PM to the prospective Flare Group Buy participants rather than individual PM's ...

... can I just add each name in the 'Recipient' box and separate them with a comma ... or what?

that's not spam.

i have wanted to send out invites to activities, seems there's no reason not to have a function to handle that.
