914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Way OT: Sonthofen, Germany & Ulm trip

Posted by: stephenaki Nov 16 2007, 04:29 PM

OK, just got back from a convention in Sonthofen, Germany. On the way back stopped by Ulm and saw the Cathedral, here are a couple of pictures. Had my small digital camera so not great, got my wide angle lens and zoom in the mail when I got back to Stuttgart.

Snowed all week and only stopped on Friday. The Cathedral is HUGE!!!! Need to go back now that I have a couple of good lenses for my SLR.

Hmm, I can't seem to get the pictures to load, last try. I evidently shot the picture at too high a resolution, can anyone tell me how to compress it?

I'd like to see your pics. Irfanview is free and easy to use - just click "Image" and then "Resize"and then save to a folder. Or you could just host them with Image Shack.

OK, I think I got a couple of pictures up, have to run it through another webpage. I may try Mid_Engine_914's suggestion if these don't do well.

there's a really cool road from Sonthofen to the "Tannheimer Tal" in Austria
it's very twisty and a blast to drive with the teener
I did it a couple of years ago ... just amazing

UHH, yeah...about that, found it unintentionally and almost made it to Austria... in my Toyota Sienna...in the snow...getting dark...

We turned back before it got dark as my wife was white knuckling the arm rests on the way up and down. I think I will try that road again in the summer without the snow and in the Teener.

I know another really cool trip back to Germany on the other side, so that you don't need to take the same road home driving.gif

Wow.
Its like a flashback. Show some more of those pics of the Munster, or whatever else. I lived near Ulm in the mid eighties. Can't remember why but I went to Sonthofen also- some conference...
I thought Munich was much nicer than Ulm, and Vienna was really cool, as was Amsterdam up the other way. I never got the chance to check of Stutgart- I kept going back to Amsterdam instead. smile.gif,

Did you climb the cathedral tower? We took My son to Ulm for a summer of German language training. We visited the cathedral, but couldn't climb the tower because it was a religious holiday weekend and they had a service starting at just about the time we wanted to go up. We haven't made it back to that area since sad.gif

Great pictures!
