Pelican and others are still not able to get good seals.....anyone buy one lately that they are satisfied with?

Posted by: Brad Roberts Jan 2 2004, 01:39 PM

Nope. They all come from the same place. We are getting BIG money for perfect used ones.

I still dont understand why we cant contact the manufacturer and explain what is happening.

Don't they have some putty stuff that you can use instead?

Try Mittle Motor (sp?)
I know they have them listed in their catalog....

Ha ha.. MittleMotor lists EVERYTHING in their catalog. I have one.Too bad 10% of it is NLA from Porsche. It honestly irks me that MM lists everything but when you contact them... it is a different story. They stock close to nothing (typical just in time business plan of the late 90's)

How are you ?? Where have you been ??

Mittlemotor does not have them. I ordered a bunch of stuff from them, including a windshield seal. My quote did not have the windshield seal on it.

They do have all of the oil lines...IN STOCK. Pelican and other say they do, and do not.

I only know of one well-known aftermarket p-car parts house that actually -stocks- a ton of stuff. You pay the price, definitely, but often times you get the goods more quickly and with less "uncertainty" involved when you place the order. Most of you probably know who I'm talking about. The majority of the parts guys are just a bunch of phone lines and PC's in a low-rent office with a shipping/receiving dock out back...

Do you have a pic of the lines they offer ??

I just had some nice one made today and I'm debating on selling them as a kit with a NEW hard line.

I need to have Andy read the stock 9146 lines I have. They have Deustch writing on them (the fittings)

Porsche AG told me less than 30 days ago that they didnt have the short line that runs from the tank to the longer line that runs to the oil cooler (scavenge lines) Soo. I had one made. Turned out nice. I know GPR and Otto's sells aftermarket oil lines.. but I dont think they sell the hard line. They just use on long soft line.

I sent an email to that guy that does the smoked and clear 914 lenses...his site claims he does rubber too.....

A new hard line would be sweet.

We took measurements on a stock one today to look at potential materials. It will have the larger 30mm fittings on it that came standard on 3.0/3.2/3.6 engine. Only the early 2.0/2.2 engines had the 26mm fittings in the block. The factory 6 tank has 26mm on it (I think.. I will measure tomorrow) So we will do a short adapater line from the hard line 30mm to the tank 26mm. The factory used a short straight line in that spot anyway.. so having one end 30mm and the other 26 is no big deal.

crap, I'm back to the soft line, I have a 2.2 with the smaller 26mmm connector.

I'll take the camera to the shop today and I'll photograph all of the lines. The hard lines are all cadmium plated. One of my buddies snapped the big line while pulling it off the engine. I decided to go ahead an replace all of the lines, since I was ordering stuff anyway. The problem with Mittlemotor is that you have to pay for a bunch of shipping.

The newspaper they packed with the part was interesting. 1/2 porn, 1/2 sort of para-military stuff.

The funny part is that it's hard to tell the porn, from the para-mil stuff...

It's German.

Mike, are you reffering to the seal at the bottom of the W-S PN #914-552-263-10 or the seal that runs from the A-pillar across to the other A-pillar pn #914-563-039-10?
