Is there something special about these early wheels? Maybe I am missing something?

They are very rare now. It used to be that those weren't as desirable as the 6's and 7's, but if you want to do a correct restoration you might need the 4.5's.

that's about right for a set of 4.
beetle guys routinely pay 1000 a piece... as crazy as it is.

67 911S wheels, so not a lot of these around, esp. if you need them.

My 67S had them with skinny 165X15 XAS. Not much traction in the wet.
