Cerebal as always aren't we?
What's cerebral mean?

It figures it would be in the 911 board. The 911 guys are quick to gang up--flame flame flame--throw stones--bust balls-- (i.e., generally try to stir up hate and discontent) on topics
like that.
I gave them something to bitch about. He He
I just went over and stirred the pot. Check the last page. Kinda childish but fun...
I'd like to own a 911, but I'll never be a 911 guy like those lads.
/shrug
lmao..
they should be here any minute.

I may not be your average 911 owner, but I have to speak up about the general 911 guy. Since I started the "Glad to have a V8" post on Pelican I have gotten replies from all kinds of P- owners even 914 guys thumbing their noses at my car. Considering I am active in the PCA with social events, two years as area director, and PCA drivers ed. events, will even be checked off as instructor at the next event, I have a pretty good point of veiw about those 911 owners. Think you will find that the only people that ususally speak up are the people with critical views, the supportive one usually are too scare of being riticuled to speak up. The car always attracted a lot of attention, I would have people track me down so they could look at the car, almost always wearing a big grin. It was quite rare that anyone had anything negative to say about the car even at the track. In fact the only complains that I got were that it scare them because I past them so fast. It was fast, damn it was fast!
I built the car three and half years ago and have enjoyed every minute. Now the car has been converted once again, this time back to a P- flat six so I can race PCA GT3. Also I have owned and restored a 914, only regret is that I sold it.
Just wanted to stand up for the typical 911 owner, we love cars, especially P-cars, be it 914, 928, 944, or 911.
Dude....chilll....all in fun.
It's getting funner...
M
Redshift your bad I'm just funnen ya. 911 guys are way too serious for me. I think that stems from too much home work or sumthin. Life is way too short that type of negitivity. Some of the posts seem to be in fun but some of them are a little critical.
Let me flame it up a bit... 911 guys "blow" in general.
Haven't figured it out yet but... yup, they do. I've owned 4 of them. Still own one and probably always will. I love them. Wish I could find a group of guys like 914 owners but for some reason, for the most part, their time is spent one up'n each other. I think the car is too much of a status symbol so you get a different group of owners.
One of my favorite metaphors involves the whole "that's not a Porsche it's a VW" thing you hear from some of the "other" Porsche owners out there. Porsche designed the VW. The first Porsches were all VW parts. Hitler commissioned Porsche to win races and he gave them anything they wanted from the parts bin at the countries largest auto manufacturer... If Porsche 001 was made from VW parts then I would say only a "true" Porsche would have it's roots tied so closely with VW. This is what I think a lot of the 911 crowd is missing... a humble understanding of their beginings. The Beetle crowd knows how close a Type 1 is to a 901/01. Give it a couple of extra cylinders and some overhead cams and... well, you've got one of the winningest engines in race history.
Now that I've firmly planted my foot in my mouth I'll tap dance my way outa here... I've met quite a few 911 guys that "GET IT". They have a sense of humor, they actually know how to work on their cars. You'll find a bunch of them huddled around the early 911S registry board or in the R-Gruppe. I wish I could have a standard psych. test that would do the weinie screening... you could have a pretty cool site like www.911club.com.
Kinda like guitar players and bass players Us guitar players have always been competitive while the bass players tend to gather-round and form a community. So... I'm a guitar player in bass player's clothing and a Neunelfer in the teener club. I like it here.
You know, I don't get it, what is the deal. So because I own a 911 instead of a 914 I "BLOW'. What the &*$#, I love cars and the sport of racing. If you drive a 74' Pinto GREAT, if you have made it interesting even better.
You can't fuss about a group of owners for this or that reason and then say they all "BLOW". This type of owner would fuss about the Chevy guys if they owned a Ford. Maybe it's just that other people just don't get it.
Like Z said...
Damn! I forgot to buy popcorn.
M
Me three...the 914 crowd seems to be a little more down to earth, DIY, willing to get hands dirty type people.
I will NEVER be accepted in the 356 crowd, the 911 guys....well, let's just say I like the car......but my constant tinkering puts me in a grey area.
As to 914s....well, I keep coming back.
Mike,
I like reading you interesting posts, but I keep gettin poked in the eye by your avitar!
Enjoy!
