914World.com _ 914World Garage _ SCCA Vintage races this weekend at Laguna Seca

Just got back from the SCCA vintage race @ laguna seca. A lot of really nice porsches out there today.
There was a 914 with a 3.2 that was running with the big displacement v8 crowd and wow it was mid pack and holding off many mustangs, an early corvette, and various other v8 muscle.
If you are in the bay area you might want to drive down there tomorrow. Great weather for a drive and SCCA vintage only comes once a year to Laguna.
Oh I almost forgot there was also a 914 6 on the pole for the 2.0 run group. I missed that race DOAH! but it was a pretty sweet car too.
I will post pic's tomorrow... to sleepy after all the driving to mess with it tonight.

the signal orange #25 914-6GT is owned by Greg (race914 on this board) and Tricia Braun....it has a nice 3.2L in it. Greg is seen driving with wife Tricia standing next to him on grid.
I am sure Greg was giving the V8 guys fits with that car. It is very quick...
I used to run against that car with my 2.7RS motored 914-6.
Greg usually races his 2.0L 914-4 with the Gulf blue and orange livery...???
Wonder if they brought both cars for the weekend?

Thanks so much for the pics of our Signal Orange 914-6! We didn't really have time to take many, and the track photographer focused on the vettes & mustangs in his shots.
I forgot to ask people who stopped by if they were 914World members too.. I guess I should get a 914World banner made for the trailer, it might also help recruit new members. It was great having people come over to see and talk about the car. I was suprised how many did. I guess since I was the underdog in the Big Bore Production group.
I was having a great weekend until I started having transaxle issues and got the car stuck in 4th on Sunday. Before that, I qualified 24 out of 27 in the Sat morning Qualifying Session and Sat afternoon finished up 12 spots to http://www.mylaps.com/results/newResults.jsp?id=771478. Not bad for a street legal car with old tires! I was rotating my Hoosiers friday before loading onto the trailer and while picking off the 'boogers' found a 1/2" patch of cord hiding under one. So I put my spare rims on that have Yokohama AVSs that were on the car in 2003 when we bought it... not an excuse, that's just racing. They were pretty squirrly in the Sat AM qualifying session, but after that it was amazing how well they did for being so old.
I really had fun talking with other 914 enthusiasts Sat & Sun. Thanks to all who stopped by and offered their encouragement.

P.S. I think my favorite car at the event is the Porsche Platypus #75 in the pic two posts up. He ran, and won in Big Bore one year! Boy was that a race. He waited until the V8s started overheating their brakes and picked them off one at a time going into the corners!
