914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Lines, hoses, oh my!

Posted by: stateofidleness May 25 2008, 08:14 AM

Hey guys, to anyone that has ordered new fuel lines and vacuum lines for a 2.0L, can you help me with what I should order? basically just lay out what lengths and what id's i need. Ive seen the one diagram on that one site (real descriptive i know smile.gif ) but it confused me...

ive heard of a vacuum line kit, which i could order, but the only one ive found was on ebay and wasnt sure if it would work for a 2.0L (links?)

ive seen that automotion has the fuel lines so i will prolly be ordering from them (unless someone has em cheaper) as well as intake gaskets and valve cover gaskets.

so can ya help? just the lines in the engine compartment, not up front at fuel pump or anything, just the fuel lines in the engine compartment, and if no vacuum line kit, lengths and ids for those as well smile.gif

thanks so much

yep, that's the diagram that confused me smile.gif

i didnt see a fuel hose diagram on there though.. and is there a vacuum line kit i can buy instead of individual hoses?

Dave Darling did a nice fuel line layout with hose sizes, but not lengths.

As far as a vacuum line kit, I've had excellent luck with the AutoAtlanta kit. I think they sell the kit in both generic color and original colors - all lines pre-cut for you. If you're looking for originality, it's the only way to go.

wow $81 for that kit!!

i don't care about originality, i drive a chalon shades.gif lmao

any cheaper solutions?

Try a VW shop if you want to save a few bucks. You might be able to
get some from NAPA. It will be standard size, so I'm not sure what sizes
will fit so bring a sample of each hose size with you to match.

so apparently AA has a fuel line kit too..
looks like they'll be gettin $192 from me soon lol

do they do promo codes or anything? i have some from automotion and pelican that i wont use if someone wanted to trade? its like 10% off

anyone use their fuel hose kit before?

i like the easiness of a kit.. so i guess its worth my $.

Fuel line from a vw place will NOT be rated for FI. Don't use it!
