914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Rear caliper question. Double bleeders?

Posted by: Dr. Roger May 25 2008, 04:25 PM

I think my '74 has spaced single bleeders on it right now.

Was there a particular year for double bleeders?

Thanks,
Roger

My '76 has both. I think that technically, the lower one is for flushing, the upper one is for bleeding. If you think about it, with only an upper one, the old fluid will stay in the cylinder and never come out when you bleed. So you open the lower one to flush (drain) the old fluid, then finish it off by bleeding from the top one.

Single bleeder calipers ran from inception to about mid '72. Then they went to double bleeders.
