Hi,

Never did a replacement job and my machinist headbang.gif is confused( no type 4 work, but he's free) Please.... can anyone post pictures or diagrahm's of the 5(I believe) gallery plugs that need to be drilled & tapped. I know there are casting marks that are round and that's what's causing the confussion.
If he drill's & tap's any of those(in the galley) will it junk the case??

Thanks for the HELP!! beer.gif

Dude, you've got to learn the "search" function! headbang.gif biggrin.gif

Take a look here: http://www.ephotomotion.com/914engine/page10.htm

This is from : http://www.ephotomotion.com/914engine/

And definitely get an account on the Jake Raby site. Then go to the Super Duper Oil Gallery Plug Article: http://forums.aircooledtechnology.com/showthread.php?t=72&highlight=galley+plug

Good luck! bye1.gif

Hi Eric & THANKS!!

I did a search but couldn't find that thread confused24.gif

Is there a 5th plug??

Can you pull the motor & do a leaking plug with the motor assembled? I thought maybe a shop vac & compressed air might do the job and keep shavings out of the galley's????

Thanks for the HELP! beerchug.gif

If you really have a desire to do a plug while the motor is assemlbed (not a good idea) then use heavy grease on the tap.
Go very slow..1/4 turn each time...then pull the tap and clean it off.
Add new grease, go in a bit more ....
the grease keeps the shavings on the tap..but only so much, so you have to keep pulling the tap out and cleaning it really well.

Please go look at Jake Raby's article about how to put in galley plugs.
Its really well done, he put alot of effort to share this with us.
It explains all of it.
Lastly, I think he explains how to do it with the motor still assembled.
