I want to remove the spring and adjuster lever so I can paint the base.

What’s the best way to remove the spring and then put it back together later? I’m pretty sure I can get it apart. What’s the procedure or tricks?

Use a screwdriver to pop the spring off the roll pin .... drive the roll pin out

Or

Actually, paint the whole damn thing unless you're goin' for CW points.

Or

Tape the spring & such off and paint the rest

Ron's right. Clean it and paint it intact. Put it all together and don't look back. smile.gif

Most paints don’t like galvanized metal.

It ended up coming apart without too much trouble. I pressed the pin most of the way out. Then lifted the spring over the rolled pin. After that I pressed the pin all the way out.
