Whats the best way to clean a stock oil cooler? Is it better to just replace it? No leaks are obvious, just lots of dirt buidup on the outside. Cars owner has 3 miles of dirty, dusty, gravel road to his house.
You could send it out and have it ultrasonically cleaned, aircraft type shops would know where to have it done,
If you want to clean it while on the engine just gunk it....
It's off the motor. Thought I might just be able to soak it in something.
Ultra sonic cleaning? Hmmm, that sounds more expensive than replacing it.
yeap the ultrasonic is FAA type stuff....spendy
just fill the cooler with solvent.... shake, drain it out and repeat till your satisfied its clean...
Yup, that was my thought also. Just wanted to make sure.
Thanks, Curt
take it to a radiator shop. if they can clean radiators they can clean a little oil cooler.
kevin
A lot of radiator shops have ultrsonic tanks. Doesn't cost much more than hot tanking. I had a fuel tank done in an ultrasonic tank once. Came out nice. I think it cost all of $35.
Check with EBS in Sparks, NV - I was told they clean them.
