914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Front Torsion Bar Adjusting

Posted by: Jeffs9146 Mar 23 2003, 05:29 PM

My car is lowered as far as the adjuster nut will allow! What do I have to do to get it lower? I am going to assume I need to remove the torsion bar and piviot it one spline! Am I close and how is this done? Thanks for any input ASAP! I am about to open another beer and I want to do this before I get too twisted!!!

You do not have to remove the bar, but you will have to rotate the adjuster a few splines up/down.

I belive the only way to do so is to remove the bolt while no tension is on the adjuster cap.

Be sure you still have enough shock travel.

If the car is too low, the travel is very limited and can cause handling problems when cornering.

Also the camber will change, tire wear may become a problem without re-alignment.

Thanks for the tips! I do plan on an alignment after I decide on the "ideal" ride hight! The car is still not road ready yet anyway. smash.gif
