914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Trivia quiz from JWest Engineering

Posted by: James Adams Feb 1 2004, 11:37 AM

This is the first of what I plan to be a series.

I will let the thread go for 2 days. Everybody guess (yes, you can put the same thing as someone else if you think they are right).

One winner will be randomly chosen from all the correct guesses and gets a voucher for $10 off an order of $20 or more from http://www.jwesteng.com. dance.gif

The only correct answer will be the one I'm thinking of, even if you come up with something else that is a good response.

Here is the first one (it's not too hard): idea.gif
This image is from the Porsche factory manual. What is wrong in the picture?

I know what your thinking, but I'll let someone else win the voucher!

Don't know about the tail shifters, but the speedo drive appears to be on the wrong side

Not enough contrast?

Side shifter with tail shifter rear cover.

Posted by: fiid Feb 1 2004, 01:21 PM

agree.gif I agree.

Andy took the picture? cool_shades.gif

Shifter Rod appears to be missing....
Not sure cause the pic is so hard to focus....or I need better glasses (could be true)

Sorry about the pic, but it is from the downloads section of this very message board. Maybe Andy did take the pic.

I think you guys are just looking for excuses. cool_shades.gif

It's in the 2.0L engine section of the factory manual if you want to look for a better version of the picture.

Same as above,

I'd say tailshifter tranny converted to sideshift.

2 cylinders are missing wink.gif

I'd have to agree with MikeZ. The plastic cover is missing.

Posted by: r_towle Feb 2 2004, 03:45 PM

Also looks like a HE is missing.

The car is upside down. lol3.gif

Posted by: drew365 Feb 2 2004, 10:13 PM

I go with missing the shift rod and cover.

Posted by: meursault Feb 2 2004, 10:44 PM

Yep, sideshift transmission (or at least the console) with tailshifter nosecone.

Posted by: Dave Bell Feb 3 2004, 01:40 AM

Yea... I'll go with the picture being too grainy as the main problem... can I get $10 off on a pair of glasses?

Posted by: James Adams Feb 3 2004, 01:49 PM

OK, times up!

4 people got the right answer, so you babies who are whining about the bad picture need to ask them for the number to their optometrists.

gklinger, fiid, si2t3m, and meursault all correctly guessed that the transmission has the console for side-shift, but the tail cover is a tail-shift style (you can see the steel plate held on by four bolts at left side of the pic).

So the winner by random selection is:

!!!gklinger!!!

I'll PM you a voucher for your discount.

Look for another trivia quiz soon -- NOT containing a picture!

Posted by: Qarl Feb 3 2004, 01:52 PM

Is it too late to guess?

How about....

no rust!

Posted by: gklinger Feb 3 2004, 02:33 PM

Cool! Thanks James!

You'll see an order coming through soon for one of those trick fuse boxes.
