914World.com _ 914World Garage _ CV joint bolts

Posted by: mojorisen914 Nov 6 2008, 08:04 AM

Ok, here's another easy question for you guys and gals: Should new CV joint bolts be used when swapping out the tranny or is it ok to re-use the existing bolts?
Something tells me to use New bolts but wanted some info.

Thanks again.

New bolts are not always necessary, however new gaskets, and new Schnorr safety washers are. Bolts drilled for safety wires are available from a member (Dr Evil), and are recommended if you are buying new ones.

I bought Evil Werks (Dr Evil)drilled CV bolts, really nice kit, wire and all. But like davep said new washers will do if the bolts are in good shape.

Pelican, Automotion, Stoddard, local stealership the usual places that carry Porsche parts. Not your everyday FLAPS type places.
