914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Group buy on Mainely Temp Gauge - NOW CLOSED

Posted by: KaptKaos Dec 3 2008, 02:08 PM

Group buy is $39.95 for the gauge shipped within the USA. Please see my last post for details.

Here is the link to the gauge:

I am not sure how many would want these, and how much they'd go for, but I figure we can save a few $$s.

So let me know if you are interested, how many and at what price, shipped would be a good deal and I'll see what I can set up.

Thanks!

I'm interested!

Posted by: SGB Dec 3 2008, 10:44 PM

Depends on the discounted price. This is one of those things that would be nice, but not needed (for me).

Zach

Posted by: Gint Dec 4 2008, 05:48 PM

I doubt they'll discount it much, but WDIK? I kind of want one anyway (for a long time now actually), so what the hell, I'm in for one.

Posted by: type11969 Dec 4 2008, 06:19 PM

I'll let this run through the weekend. Monday, I'll take a tally and get back to Mainely and see what they say.

Posted by: type47 Dec 5 2008, 09:57 AM

they often ebay the gauges at $45 bid and $49 buy it now.

Posted by: Garold Shaffer Dec 5 2008, 11:50 AM

What the heck, I'm in for one.

Posted by: ericread Dec 7 2008, 07:56 PM

Did you ever get/post a price, or is the deadline for gauging interest only? I am interested, depending upon the price, but I'm not "in" until I know what your price will be.

My thanks and good luck!

Eric Read

Posted by: KaptKaos Dec 7 2008, 08:07 PM

Price TBD pending the number of participants. I am gauging interest for the gauge.

I'll call him tomorrow and say "I have X that are interested, depending on the final shipped cost. What can you do for us?"

That's the plan right now.

Sounds like a plan. You might want to give him three ranges 15, 30 and 45 units. See if he will provide a more significant price break for the higher quantity? Remind him that we're all CSOBs and too damn lazy to order one by ourselves, so the only chance to reach us is through this group buy...

Bob at Mainely has the following offer:

$39.95 each which includes USPS shipping to USA (I believe that includes AK & HI). The catch is that he wants it as one payment, and he'll do the shipping.

He has 15 ready to go, and will need some time to make more.

I could collect the $$, but I will need at assess the paypal fees to those that paypal it to me. I dunno what that %% is, so I need to look that up.

Still game? Let me know.

Here is the deal. Bob is asking for 1 payment, which I can make for the full amount. We need 15 to qualify.

The cost is $39.95 each which includes shipping. If you want to send me a check, PM me and I will send you the details.

If you want to paypal me, you need to cover the paypal fees. Per the site http://ppcalc.com/ which calculates paypal fees, you will need to paypal me $41.45. Send me a PM and I'll send you my paypal address.

You will need to send me your shipping information via PM please.

We need 6 more people to qualify, so if you know that guys that expressed interest, nudge them.

Thanks all!!

Posted by: Gint Dec 13 2008, 10:17 AM

PM sent with details.

I also notified the local gang about the buy and gave them a link to this thread.

We have 19 so far, and that may go up or down some. Bob said he had 15 ready to go, so there may be a slight wait for a few of them.

I tried calling Mainely today, and got a "number cannot be reached at this time" message. Likely some nasty weather up there. I sent an email to Bob and I will update here as well. Likely, I will get the payment and shipping info to him next week.

Thanks again!

Bob got the check today. smilie_pokal.gif

Seems he has 2 mailing addresses, one being a PO Box. Given that it's -10 there, he doesn't go to the Post Office all that often to check the PO Box, which was where I sent it.

Bob said that he would ship them out tomorrow. When we negotiated the deal, he said he'd ship them via USPS Priority Mail. I will confirm this.

Please send me a PM to confirm the receipt of your unit.

Thanks!!

Cool. The mail lady dropped this off a couple of hours ago. It's been sitting on the living room chair. I pulled it out of the box and looked at the dial. It says 68 or 69 (pretty small print). The thermostat is set at 68 degrees. Looks like it works pretty good at the low range.

I ran it up to Pasadena this afternoon and my suspicions were confirmed. I'm running way too cool. Barely 200. I am running way rich as well, since I can smell gas in my oil, which isn't good.

Time to lean it out a bit and see how we do.
