Page 76, Item 20...The Haynes manual...

says "remove the stretch bearing bolt (expansion bolt)" but it does not tell me how to get the "Lock Pin" out of the speedo drive, first...

It appears to be a roll pin that needs to be drifted out but you can't get to it due to the entire assembly is recessed into the 1st gear Guide Sleeve...

Even after the speedo drive is removed, how do you un-torque the "stretch bearing bolt"...

All this just to change the 1st gear synchro...

Help !!!

Long socket. It is the same size as the axle nut (I forget what that size is..maybe 32mm)

I never remove the pin.

30 mm deep socket. Available at Sears , Autozone , Pepboys Dave

agree.gif The 30mm deep socket is used on a lot of FWD front axle nuts, so it is a pretty common tool.
