So it's been a while since i've last done any apparel for the 914 community.

So today i was chatting with Sendjonathanmail and he was like "you should so do a hoodie since most of the us are freezing our butts off this winter and could use some type of 914 winter apparel". He suggested a hoodie. So after some brainstorming i came up with the UNIVERSITY OF NINE-FOURTEEN hoodie idea. The whole idea collaborates our community's knowledge of the 914 and everyone of us is a student or professor to the University. Here's the design:

(please contribute any changes or color suggestions) Thanks!

As far has price goes i have not looked into it yet. But if i get enough interest i'll go to my previous printer to get a quote.

throw out some ideas or a similar design you want me to emulate.

Posted by: ahdoman Feb 4 2009, 11:39 PM

Daniel,
Did you ever look into doing the semi long sleeve shirts again (baseball practice jersey style)?

Posted by: dlo914 Feb 4 2009, 11:50 PM

I was thinking of doing a game jersey. Similar to the Dodger's button up white w/ blue pin striped shirt. And picture the Porsche914 script i used for the orange baseball shirt on there, but in blue n white. Lemme see if i can photoshop my idea really quick.

Could the hoodies be a different color, like an athletic grey? If so, count me in!!!

i could do that. More..more ideas.

Across the bottom, with the inverse arc of "University" add "School of Hard Knocks"

Posted by: turnaround89 Feb 5 2009, 08:42 AM

this may be a dumb question, but how is that a drug reference? confused24.gif

Are you going off the 4-20 idea?

Posted by: Vacca Rabite Feb 5 2009, 11:39 AM

^^^
Yup.
Most people will think of Mary Jane before they think of odd sports cars from the 70s. Its the first thing that came to my mind, and I knew what it was supposed to mean (and I don't even smoke).

What kind of hoodie. Looks kinds thin like an 8 ouncer.
Myself I like the heavy 12 oz hoodies.

Posted by: dlo914 Feb 5 2009, 12:52 PM

Sendjonathanmail - thanks buddy, got any suggestions?

Vacca Rabite - i could always add an image of a 914 below the NINE-FOURTEEN.

736conver - as far as the hoodie goes, that image i just pulled off of google and pasted on my design. so i haven't decided on a weight. i personally prefer a thick one, since i feel ripped off if it's a thin hoodie that won't keep you warm.

9146986 - so add a downwards arc saying "School of hard knocks" completing a full circle?

Posted by: BKLA Feb 5 2009, 02:08 PM

Some ideas:

School of Kurven;

Masters Degree in NARP; minor in temporary elevated structures;

PHD in Unlimited Modification Possibilities

Masters in PORPO (pissing off "real" porsche owners)

Real Porsches are Air Cooled

Just some quickies that came to mind...

Posted by: turnaround89 Feb 5 2009, 02:47 PM

I like Real Porsche's are Air Cooled the most.

you could put the picture of the 914 underneath nine-fourteen and then that quote on the back, or something of that nature.

Posted by: dlo914 Feb 5 2009, 03:35 PM

Awesome ideas, i could use the old 914 design from the previous green shirt i made. And put a quote on the reverse side across the shoulder blades. The quote should be 914 specific, but i do like the "Real Porsche's are Air Cooled". The font would either be a bold lettering or a script.

I like that idea. Maybe just a silhouette of the 914? But if it's going to be an accurate portrayal of the people on this board, shouldn't you misspell "NINE FORTIEN"? biggrin.gif ; Or maybe spell nine-fourteen in german?

I like the idea of "914" being in numerals (rather than spelled out) and in 914-script. Also, how about "Class of XX" (XX = 70 - 76) on the back to indicate the year model the wearer owns? Would that much inventory be tough for you to manage?

If so, maybe there's a jacket idea here with additional patches available to indicate year, type of engine, etc...?

Im saying I definetly like the 914 logo that you used on the green shirt and I think that it would look great on the back of a hoody. If you were to use "the road is our classroom" I think it would greatly depend on what font you used.

Yeah i'm not too fond of the Nine-Fourteen either. Also, i just figured that if we do go with a zippered hoodie, the lettering in front will be split and won't look as nice as a regular pull-over hoodie.

zipper hoodies can split the :

I'll be the contrarian here...lose the Roman numbers. This is a German machine, not Italian (the difference being that the second seat in German cars is designed for a passenger, not a mechanic as in Italian cars).

Rod, I'm a 42" chest and large shirts generally tend to fit my finely honed muscular torso (I wish), so I think you'll be fine. XXXL will be like wearing a circus tent!

Here's the current time schedule for the sweaters:

- Thursday: Silk screen film is being made.
- Friday: Sweatshirts being ordered.
- Monday: Printing will be done.

And as of so far there have been 18+ sweatshirts ordered.

I'll post up a picture of the sweatshirt ASAP when i get mine.

If you want the correct Roman numerals, I believe its "CMXIV". biggrin.gif

I suggest you use the same font for "University" and "Nine Fourteen"

Shouldn't there be an "of" in there?

Why not put a side view outline of the car where the oval is?

Hmm...for those questions you can direct them to Jaime @ EMG Merch. His email is jaime@edifixmediagroup.com. Tell him you want the sweater in a different color and i think he can crank something out.

Funny thing i just realized, i don't have a sweater of my own. I only had them print onto a dark gray hooded sweater i had lying around the house. O wells.

Throw a picture of you guys rocking the sweatshirt, it'll make good publicity. Thanks guys for your support!

I haven't got my hoodie yet and it isn't a big deal as it will be warm soon here. I couldn't find a way to order a tee with the same info on it. I also would like a tee in large.

Can't see the image at work so don't know if I'm on the tally sheet but I still haven't got anything. It was ordered on 18 Feb; let me know if you need the email confirmation I got.
