So this is it. We are not doing Pay-pal so your going to have use The Snail Mail and copy the Offical Registration Form and give it to the trusted hands of the disgruntailed Postal Officals. Encolse a check for the correct amount and we will figure the rest out. Please bare with us, as we are nudists. Oh, ah, thats another thread.

icon_bump.gif Back to the top with this. 46 people have down loaded the registration form in less than a week. Thats about half way to my goal.

Posted by: 6freak Feb 26 2009, 12:27 PM

Hello Joe! sooo 91.46 covers all events, 4 meals" one per day?", track day and AX...And no speciel deals on hotels...both hotels close to everything? and witch one is headquarters ..i didnt see an address to send the registration to...P.S i will share a room with someone to help cut cost so if you know of anyone set me up
Thanks
Mike Crandall

Posted by: Joe Sharp Feb 26 2009, 07:55 PM

Excuse me Mike, the $91.46 covers you for 4 meals, they are.
The "Q" at the Meet and Greet Friday night,
the "Q" on the ride Saturday afternoon,
The Awards Ceremonie dinner
and lunch at The Streets of Willow.

The Streets of Willow is also inclued but if you want to do an A/X that is also on the same weekend at El Toro, you'll have to sing up and pay the PCA OCR. Sunday is our travle day and you will have time to do their A/X and get to the Awards Ceremonie Dinner by 7:30.
The rate that we have been quoted at The Double Tree Inn in Irvine is $89 per night. Not a great rate but the nicest hotel that we have stayed at for a 914 event.
The rate that we have been quoted at The Inn of Lancaster is $79 per night and that is where we stayed in 2005. Thats the best rates we have been able to get at this time. Those are the Headquarters that we will be using. The Inn of Lancaster is where Tech for The Streets of Willow will be held.
Team NARP's Headquarters address is at the bottom of the registration form.
I hope this clears up and questions about the A/X as it is not part of The West Cost Ramble. It is a PCA event.

Posted by: 6freak Feb 27 2009, 08:45 AM

Got it...... Thanks Joe!!!............so too put it out there again I`m willing to share accomadations at both places ....we can help each other save a good chunk of change

The score as it stands tonight 2/28
31 people on the poll say they are going to be here.
51 people have downloaded the registration form.
9 people have paid.
I think we are doing rather well for the end of the first week.
The event has $784.64 in the bank.
Oh Yeah. icon_bump.gif
Check the lead post to see who we have recieved money from.

Posted by: Joe Sharp Mar 1 2009, 10:50 PM

I will also be coming. I was hoping to bring my Dad again, but my Mom is not in very good shape and he doesn't want to leave her alone. We went to the last one together and met Howard and the gang. We had a blast!! We only showed up for the track event and Howard was nice enough to save my award, tshirt, etc, for me not knowing for sure that I was going to show up. What an amazing Man loved by all. He will definetly never be forgotten.
I will get my form sent out tomorrow.

Posted by: Joe Sharp Mar 18 2009, 10:05 AM

Sorry Jim you are talking to the correct hotel. I don't have time this week to strighten this out. The price that quoted Rick is an on line price that anyone can get. We had talked to them about a block of 40 room and only got a price of 89. They have not been very cooperative. It is a very nice hotel and in a great location for us.

Posted by: 6freak Mar 18 2009, 10:17 AM

189.00 vs 89.00 Will be a deal breaker for me..Lets hope it the lower price ..or maybe they can throw in a few hookers ....lmao ...just kid`n

Try $30 a night at the Edgewater in Seattle. The door man had his hand out too. I felt a major craving for wine and cheese. Fortunately, my wife had packed a couple of bottles of beer so, I was saved. I'll NEVER stay there again. $7.00 doesn't seem too bad.

don't send your registration and money next week. SEND IT OUT IN TOMORROW'S MAIL. AS YOU READ, MAKE OUT THE CHECK, ADDRESS THE ENVELOPE AND PUT ON A STAMP, AND IT WILL BE READY TO MAIL. too simple huh? or wait and wait and put the planners in a bind when they have to go into their own pockets to get things going.

Good news! I found out today that I have vacation from the 11th-20th!!! So I will be able to visit the SoCal folks for a bit!

What is the entry fee for two adults and two kids that only wish they had a 914 to bring to the event? We will be riding in the Sequoia...a/c....ahhhh! biggrin.gif

Posted by: jimtab Mar 26 2009, 01:34 PM

I'll be hanging around a bit or going back the long way around (thru Az, Nm, and Ut/nev) or just staying in socal and visiting friends and relatives...haven't finalized plans but I'm free until the 22nd....can hardly wait....

The registration form has been down loaded about 175 times. It would be nice to get at least about 2/3rds of them back.

Actually, at a count of 175, 2/3 would only equate to 116.6 entries, whereas, 3/2 would equate to 262.5 entries.

You had the right idea Joe laugh.gif

Joe,
I dropped my registration in the mail today. Reservations made for Irvine (Friday and Saturday) and Lancaster Sunday...$99 and $89 a night respectively. Internet gets you the $99 rate in Irvine and must call for Lancaster (old school).

Val's and my registration went into the mail this morning. Hopefully it will actually arrive....(can't trust those postal workers).

Looking forward to it! We actually got our rate at the Double Tree down to $98 a night. (for some reason they charge more if you want to stay on a weekday.)

We plan on arriving Monday the 11th and staying in Anaheim for a couple nights for Disneyland, then moving down the highway a bit on Friday to the Double Tree. We will come up and watch at Streets, then go spend Monday night in Vegas. We will have our daughters with us, so our partying will be kept to a minimum...but I am sure we will enjoy!!

Looking forward to seeing the friends we have met again, and meeting those friends we have not!

Pretty good numbers. In big jets the fuel load is measured in pounds. My biggest fuel load was 330,000 lbs. Anchorage to Hong Kong!!
I NEVER flew the whale (747) slower than mach .86. I had it up to .90 a few times and my highest ground speed was 700 Knots in the jet stream over Japan. SMOKIN.
At max take off weight you got to see BOTH ends of the runway. (whew!)

The only thing I recall from 2005 at the Streets is a requirement for a helmet and a long sleeved shirt. I'm not sure but I also think they required the roof to be on the car. (I also vaguely remember standing on top of NEVERLAND and rocking it back and forth.) I don't think a track cert. is needed.

In 2005 at the hotel in Lancaster, there where some vendors there. I'm sure Camp 914 was there and a few others selling stuff. Bring your parts.

Allan and Tom, We start off the event at The Double Tree Inn in Irvine with a meet and greet Friday night.
Saturday morning Bright and early some of us will go off to Cars and Coffee.
Then about 9:15 we go for a ride to a location for a jsharp.gif

After we return to the hotel we have the 914 R/C/ Car Challenge.

Saturday evening your free to do what you like.

Sunday morning there is a drive to The Inn of Lancaster for Tech, Show and Shine and The Awards Cerrmony.

Monday we go to Willow Springs for The Streets of Willow.
I hope this helps but I was sure I posted it some where and I can't find it either.

Thanx Much!

I doubt I'll get up to Luverly Lancaster, but I'll try to get to some other things. I just found out Tues that I need a hopefully minor surgery, & so I hope that I'll be up & at 'em again by then, but have no way of knowing yet.

If I can do it at a last minute, then I'll just send you the "full bore price" for the inconvenience of being so late. Just tell me if I need to bring my own weenie for the BBQ - oh wait I'll bring that anyway - I meant to say burgers! biggrin.gif

PS - Has anyone used the Buttonwillow Raceway up in Kern County (near Bakersfield - sorta) for any racing, rallies, AX, etc.?

If so, I was just wondering how the racers view it, because I was working on a project proposal near it on I-5, and we saw it as a potential plus for what we planned - e.g.: a decent hotel/motel, restaurant, fuel & C-store, etc. & maybe even some rental shop space for racers there & at the NASCAR track to the south (which is now also stopped!). Just wunderin' about users' opinions of it & that general I-5 area?? confused24.gif

GOOD FOR YOU!

Sounds like you're graduating soon too! ...too bad it's such a lousy time to enter the job market!!! When I graduated in 6/74, things went south soon after by that Fall!

Good time to consider Grad School or additional classes - keeps the ole student loan deferments going, even if only 12 units at a Comm. College! I suggested that latter to my daughter who is grad. from UCSD in June too, but she wants the year off & will apply for grad school after that.....!!? Why is it the kids never listen!? dry.gif

....glad she'll be paying the loans! ...oh well, some have to learn the hard way! confused24.gif

This has been a problem for me from the begining. It is not my purpose to stop party crashing. I would like to have as many people stop by as possible but this party belongs to those that have paid the registration fees. Our schedule will be given out at registration, at the hotel in Irvine. Come to the Meet and Greet on Friday night and talk to us. I'm sure you will find us very accommodating. As far the exact time of each part of the event goes, who the Fuch knows, these are 914's and we can never tell when we will arrive.

I live 5 minutes from Irvine and would like to roll over to the Friday night Meet & Greet in my "just painted, freshly re-upholstered" '74 2.0 to say Hi and see some other 914s. ...But what time?

I'm not planning to go to all of the scheduled events, but I will be at Cars-n-Coffee on Saturday morning... I'm usually out there most Saturdays. This will be the first time I bring the 914 out though... it's been in a state of restoration for about a year and a half.

So what time Friday evening?

 right on the form it says additional guest 35$ to cover food

$91.4_(0,4,6) is full fare, food , t shirt, track at the streets, + extra's

$35 is to cover food ( fri night, Saturday afternoon, Sunday evening and Monday at "Streets" ) 4 meals

I would love to join all the 914s for the 'Streets Track Day on Monday 18 May, but would like some more information:
=> what time to show up at the track?
=> Will there be drving groups sorted by experience?
=> Will if be a full day with a number of sessions available to run?
=> As I'll be driving from my SOCAL home, what would be the cost to run the track for the day? (I will also bring my own food)
=> My 914 is a street/track V8 car that I have run some 8 times at 'Streets and run the advanced group with SpeedTrialUSA. Will I be able to get on track and Let her RIP? ....or will this just be a driving school day?

Thanks for any information emailed to me at: stewteral@verizon.net

"LeMans"?
Can't think of a single movie featuring the 914 though. biggrin.gif

Posted by: euro911 May 10 2009, 05:07 PM

We talked about LeMans, and a few others.

The main feature is going to be the 'original' "Gone in 60 Seconds" (1974). I think hope you boys and girls like it.

They shot a lot of this locally (here in the South Bay) ... saw a lot of the filming in Redondo Beach and Torrance (my neighborhoods)

I have been working on the Alien since Friday night.

Pulled the timing belt, cooling tubes, Cam sprocket to fix an oil leak behind the sprocket. PITA!

Replaced the alternator. (70 amp Bosch to 140 amp small frame)

Replaced my cap, rotor and added a set of Megacor 8mm wires.

Adjusted my shift linkage.

Hard wired in a power inverter. ( I have to work in the car while Sandy drives... dry.gif )

Hard wired in an accessory jack.

Rewired my fan relay and temp switch. I'm moving the temp switch from the radiator to the engine block. I had a huge fitting to attach to the head. It took hours to make a plate with the temp switch fit. I had to rewire the power from the front of the car to the rear. Remove the consule for access... I am having the engine temp turn the fans on instead of the radiator temp. This should keep my engine cooler this year. I had my block bored out and it heat up faster with thinner cylinders walls.

Tomorrow, change the oil and filter

Lean out the injection.

Check the tires, pack the car. I'm picking up Sandy at 4:30 Tuesday. and we hit the road! aktion035.gif driving-girl.gif

May I have your ATTENTION, please ...

If your car doesn't have an FM [broadcast band] radio, don't forget to pack a portable FM radio for the 'DRIVE-IN MOVIE'
(planned for Saturday night at the Double Tree parking lot) shades.gif

Ahdoman will be providing a video projector and I just purchased one of these nifty little FM audio transmitters:

Is there going to be some kind of sound, or do we just burn up our points/pertronix/crane by having the key on for a long time?

One of the first things I did to our '71 was to install a Sony CD/MP3 player and ran the 'hot' lead to a 'hot' source on the fuse box idea.gif

... so we don't need to leave the ignition on when parked in a romantic setting overlooking the Pacific Ocean from high atop the cliffs of the Palos Verdes Peninsula on a hot balmy evening blink.gif

... however, I think Steve mentioned something about providing a portable sound system as well as a projector - you know, for those who might start congregating around the snack bar NEVERLAND smoke.gif instead of sitting in their car(s) unsure.gif

I don't know confused24.gif ... I've never attempted anything like this before.

There will be an intermission if anybody needs to recharge their battery poke.gif

What is required for the track on Monday? Running 914 that passes tech inspection on Sunday, driver, helmet, long pants, longsleave shirt? Am I missing anything? Don't want to forget to pack something important.

Anyone comin' south on I-5, if you want to, we can form a herd and head south from here in Santa Clarita...Some of the folks from PNW may stop in and we already have at least three cars...Would like to leave before 1 in hopes of beating some of the heaviest traffic...

Coming south on I-5, get off at Rye Canyon exit (on the right, the one before Magic Mountain and the 1st as you come into Santa Clarita)...Turn Left...1st stop light is Rye Canyon...Turn Left...1st stop light is Avenue Stanford...Turn Left...1st two story building on your left, maybe 500 yds...You will see the old beat -up Speed Yellow teener sittin' out front...

The other guys are itchy to leave eariler the better...If we don't get outta here by 1, we will be sitting on the I-405 parking lot for a long time...At 1, we might just beat the traffic...

Lemme' know...via PM...

Last day at work before packing and heading down. Tested an in car video mount today and it worked fantastic. Almost killed my wife's HD camera with all the bumps etc while testing the camera / mount. I was afraid that I had lost about 1 year of family recordings off the hard drive on the camera. Luckily after restoring the camera's software the files were still there. I will use a less sensitive camera.

Had a great time, this weekend, hate it, but have to start trip back today. Wished I could have seen cars on track Monday, that would have been awesome. Everone was so awesome, so much great information available. I can't believe how many great modified 6s & 8s are here. My brother's 8 would have fit right in, maybe next year. My 6 conversion didn't make it in time, but my 86 911 with 180k made 16 hour 1100 mile trip with only gas stops & handled trip better than I did, hopefully trip back goes smoothly. driving.gif
