The first picture is of the late 914, mid 911 and later 911 temp guage without numbers. The 914 redline is at 156C and both of the 911 gauges redline at 150C. Both the 914 and 911 STOCK senders are 200C so any guage should work.

1st picture: all three guages
2nd picture: late 914 guage

Larry, 904SVO on this board and I checked several temp guages I had and found that the 914 needs the 914 sender and the 911 needs the 911 sender. We had a fondue pot of water at 180 deg. F and checked all combos and found what I reported . Al

The 911 senders have a different ohm reading, so they are not all interchangeable. Believe me, I have had tons of people asking us to find a common sender. What we decided to to is develop a replacement module with numbers and a matching sending unit. All of the internals are VDO as is the sender. It was just a simpler way to go. We started making these for 911s and have had several requests for 914 modules, which was pretty simple to do, just rotate the face and re-scale the font.

The sheen of the face is perfect and the color is Porsche VDO white, which we color matched, so it looks factory and you know what your temperature really is.
