Paul (lotus_65) and I are stripping a rusted hulk. Where do we record the vin?
4742909647 Revanna car Photos coming..
Paul has been trying to get his car back on the road since his engine failure. He located a car near me. We met up there and saved the poor thing from the cows.
The car is in very bad shape. Here's a couple of photos. Believe it or not the engine actually turned over nicely. We have high hopes this will be a good stop gap engine until Paul gets his dead engine fixed.
Here's a few more!
The mice love these engines!

loose the carbs.
DIBS on the hubcaps if they get sold...
Rich
Rick and Paul visited me Saturday night, they left the engine with me till Paul needs it.
it looks like something you would dig out of the ground....
A heavy soaking in Kerosene and wire brush is needed....
914 archeology...
Those hubcaps would make a great "award" for a 914 event...
John
i have them on my tow dolley

Right, they are cheesy, thus the quotes on "award".
Still, hanging them on your garage wall is pretty cool so it would not
totally be a joke award...
John
Wow, the pics look that thing look NICE!
Rick's the guy of the year for all the help. I just hope he can make good use of the interior and front clip parts he needs to get that raspberry car built!
Yes, there's a couple hours of cleaning, but I think this will fix the drivability issue for the short-term...
I'll be putting my dual webers on, and I can re-jet down to the 1.8, so no worries there...
I think there are lots of good parts:
1.8l w/sideshift
1.7/8 stainless exhaust + functional dual Monza muffler
external oil cooler
italian yellow fogs
shark-style front air dam (identical to this month's car)
retrievable front bumper with very good top
Very good rear bumper top
very good targa top (good weather stripping)
decent harness
Excellent interior parts for Rick:
Steering Wheel
Dash top
Knee pad
Very nice console w/original shift knob
+ his front clip for grafting
...Oh, and those trick hub caps!
oops, forgot to mention 2 COOL little tech booklets!
I just thought let you all know, I plan on using what ever Paul decides he doesn't want to rebuild the Raspberry car. I think between what I have in storage and what is left of the car Paul and I picked up. I should be close to having a chassis and most of an interior. For those of you that don't know what I'm taking about here's the car I plan on saving. Due to the condition of this car I needed a really complete donor I have very little money invested in to make it worth doing.

Rick, out of curiosity, what year is your Raspberry car?
By any chance are you interested in getting rid of the carb setup?
6 weeks on ...
... and she LIVES!
The first few attempts to start the "Lazy Bitch" where exciting (I'll be blogging the details in my memoirs soon). She didn't really want to get going, but I have about 60 miles on her now.
In case anyone wondered, this engine surly spent a decade at least completely ignored, IN a farm. not on a farm... IN... hence the accuracy of the "914 archeology" comment!
Even though it is slow. very slow. And smells like the farm and might always do so, she runs very well. The gearbox is good (bonus) and the Monza exhaust sounds nice and deep, but still coughing remnants of past tenants. the SSHE's cleaned up great too!
It's full circle for this car it would seem.
Big thanks to Rick, of course.
Also to Dave (iamchappy) for all his generous help and guidance. Drive safely to Florida next week Dave!
I have my jalopy back! Yay Me!
That is awesome that you got that car running again so quickly!
You are suffering from the power robbing effects of mouse build up in your
exhaust system. Couple long trips might burn more of it out.
Did you check for similar obstructions in the intake system?
Great work.
John
Way to go Paul and Chappy! Drive it like you stole it
Rick, do you still need that jig for the front end? Winter is about over here and I'll be working on the teener in a week or so.
John
Thanks John!
I put my webers on it, so there's no issue with the intakes (other than the inside of the heads has the texture of dried cottage cheese).
The process seemed slow, but part of that is I had the engine re-sealed as it was obviously leaking badly when it was parked. It's dry now, so I'm happy I did that.
I agree that it will burn out all the mousey stuff eventually. I'm honestly not worried, just happy I can drive.
