I was planning on using the 15x7 Fake Fuchs shown below for my turbo Subaru engine & 5-speed trans project, but I saw an ad in the SF Bay Craigslist auto parts section for some BBS rims off a Porsche 930 and called the guy right away. I've always liked the look of BBS rims, especially the E52 rims.
When he confirmed that it was $300 for all four, I almost choked. I met him this morning and to pick them up. They've got a few small nicks-n-scratches, but they're otherwise gorgeous! I plan to paint the centers black to go along with the orange I'm planning for the car (I'm a big SF Giants fan, sadly). The fronts are 16x7 and the rears are 16x9, so these should fill out my flared car nicely.
He told me that he received a boatload of calls & emails, with many guys offering more than he initially offered but he stuck with me and refused their offers. It is good to see that there are still some honest folks out there -- especially when they give me a deal!
What are you going to do with the fake fuch's?
I might be interested in them for my 944 since I want to keep the originals on the car currently..
You coming to the swap meet next week?
Yeah, I plan to go to the swap next week. I thought I'd keep the Fake Fuchs for track tires, but I'll stick 'em in the back of the Suby wagon and bring 'em along in case you wanna look at 'em. As you can see in the pic, the tires are trash. You'll also note from the pic that they're currently residing in the side garden... and my wife wants 'em GONE!
Geoff
You don't want fake Fuchs for the track. They should only be for street.
Nice find... and I hate you They should look sweet on your car
thoese look sweet! nice find
Very nice score...
I agree with Jon. Repo's belong on the street or auto X at best, not on a race track.
Yup, but I'm still hobbling around like a drunken soldier. I'll be healed enough to join you at the March get-together, though!
How's the knee?
That is an amazing deal. Coincidentally I got similar E52s also from SF craigslist last year (for a lot more).
These things are very light weight. If not machined, you will need the race-style shank lug nuts which are annoying. I found imitations cheap at summit racing.
I would keep the fakes and see how they do. The bbs are nice. Thats also what comes on the gt fieros but in the 15 inch size. My 914 had some on it in some of the pictures I have but they dissapeared when a bank repossed it at one point.
I would think you can double your money on the bbs. Personally I wouldn't paint them unless they are needing it.

This is the link to what they have, look at the particular dimensions selected.
Depending on your stud length, you could pick long or short. I was kinda in
the middle, so I bought the long ones and cut off 1/4" so they wouldn't
bottom out. They don't seem to have perfectly centered holes, so it was
difficult to get them on. I enlarged the wheel holes by a few thousandths.
I don't remember where, but I'm sure there are steel inserts available that
could be installed by a machine shop.
