914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Emission air pump

A few questions, on a 76 2.0 (in CT) if the cat converter has been removed does the airpump serve any purpose and will there be any damage if its removed. I assume you must leave the backflow valve in place to prevent exhaust leaks into the engine compartment. Is it advised to backdate the exhaust and heat exchangers to pre 75 models?
Thanks for your thoughts.

Welcome Shelton...

Remind me to slap Curvie for being so short with you ar15.gif

Backdate and plug the existing air tubes that go into the heads. Yank the air pump and sell it on Ebay along with your exhaust...LOL Make sure you yank the impeller piece also. People in Ca. will pay good money for those parts if they work.
