What does my fellow 914 teeners think. I have a 1.7 with 40 webers. I get a slight pop and hesitation while accelerating. Is it the carbs or timing? I'm a newbie and need some help.

Check all your vaccuum lines first??

I'd do that before going and messing with the carbs or the timing.

Your carbs are either out of sync, set too lean or both.

Check accelerator pumps too.
If theres a slight or BAD lag right when you hit the throttle but a little touchy throttle 'feathering' gets you going then its usually accel pumps.
Clogged or Mal-adjusted. Look in the carb (yeah airlceaner off)...be careful of the backfire though (or do it while the car is OFF- but not too many times or you'll flood it.) and see if fuel is squirting nice and steady for a second just as the throttle is activated.
Good?
Get a weber tech book and follow their advice..
If you have carbs on a car you expect to drive, its worth a thousand bucks to have a book- but it only costs like $15.
