UPDATED 03/19/2024
We passed the 5,000 7,777 10,000 12,000 mark on our Members VIN database!
If you haven't added or updated your VIN info, please do so here:
http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?act=membervins
You can add multiple cars and edit/update your current info.
If you ever parted out a car or came across a dead one in the junk yard, read this:
http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=92742
The more info, the better. We're looking for:
- VIN
- Paint code (badge on drivers side front door jamb)
- Build date (sticker on drivers side rear door jamb)
- Chassis number (badge on drivers side front door jamb and stamped into rear trunk floor)
- A picture link
- Any comments or info on the car you'd like to share
Andy
just as an FYI....Andy puts A LOT of his own time into this list - Great Job Andy!!
Sweet! Good job Andy! Hopefully one day we will double it!
It would be neat to see where this goes in about 50 years.
Very cool. I had previously entered my VIN. I just headed out to the garage this morning to get the other info and entered it.
YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!
I just updated mine to show it sold and passed on to new owner. Many will be happy to know that the Chalon kit is being taken off and Roger Sheridan flares are being put on.
Time to give this thread another bump. We just passed the 5300 VIN number mark today!
Thanks to everyone who has entered their info.
Andy

Any research on how many cars are still in driving shape vs parts cars?
In an attempt to prove more value (declining numbers) what about a project to trade vins with harp, club, etc?
Andy, if we no longer own a car should we delete it? I'm thinking it would leave the data base if the new owner did not list it here. Thanks for all you do to keep us going.
My vin is listed twice. Once for a craigslist ad and once for my listing. I would like the CL ad vin deleted. I PMd Andy the other day about this and got no action or response. 4702906629
I just added the VIN of the beautiful '74 that I'm selling.
I wish I would have kept the VIN's of the chassis that were used to rebuild Huey. I had 2 or 3 that were cut up and tossed to use for parts...
Hi everyone,
Good for you Andy, I am glad to see so many vins listed. Hope life has been treating most of you fellows allright.
Later Sam
Hey Andy,
Finally got around to entering some of my past cars... 6 to be exact. Still have a few to go.
I called Hagerty my Insurance Co, and they were to provide me with all my past vin numbers!!! Just a tip to make it easy.
Now I gotta find the cars I had on my regular insurance.

Nice work Andy. Next time I see you, I'll buy you a beer! Even if its a breakfast.
just updated mine and added more info....thanks Ahndy.......
He can claim what ever he wants, my car has all the original plates and stamps right where they're supposed to be......
I just added my '71 914-6 to the data base.
I forgot to add my 2nd car...
Am I playing right? This VIN is in here twice now... ?
-Steve
Yeah, it keeps a history of the VIN, nothing gets deleted by default ...
Andy
I've added some VIN's when I come across any not in the db so I don't own all the ones listed to me. If you could delete all except the ones I really own, that would be great. It's a smaller list of ones to keep under my name than delete
I only own
4732909582
4732914137
4742908360
Lets pretend for a minute that I'm stupid, OK maybe two or three minutes
What is the purpose of the VIN data base?
800 new VINs in just over a year (since i started this thread) ...
As of right now, we have 5800 unique VINs in the database!
Andy
PS: Keep 'em coming guys and gals!
cool
Congrats! This is a great resource.
Can't believe I forgot to add my VIN (4762902199) until I just now...
Hi Andy
Keep up the good work. You have greatly improved the world and the club.
Thanks Sam
Just wanted to say thanks for the VIN# Data Base. Added mine today and learned a bit of info about my own new car.
Thanks, Dave
7777 unique VINs in the database!
PS: Actually 7779 since i just added two more ...
+1 - just added my suby conversion car.
10027 unique VINs in Database
How are you seeing that number? When I go to the VIN page, it says 9940.
Now I'm seeing 9941. I've seen it incrementing since Jim Hoyland made his post on the 15th. I'll try clearing cache and logout/login and see if that works.
[Edit]: No joy...still shows 9941 for me. I even tried on a different computer. As I recall, when Jim said 72 more were needed, I was seeing the correct number of 9928 at that time. Weirdness.
It would be easier to celebrate the 10,000 mark twice.
Just added mine.....picture upload not so easy for me.....where is the engine number located? Thank you guys.
gg
Should be right in front of the oil filler box.
12,117 as of today ...
