My throttle cable tube is mashed where the cable exits the tube at the front by the pedal . Will the structural integrity of the car be compromised if I cut a hole there to get to it? Anyone ever done that? I need to replace the cable. I could cut off the end to get it out but then I couldn't get the new one back in.
Should be fine.
Do a search, there are quite a few "how to fix" threads about the clutch tube repair.

You can cut an access hole if you need to. I had to cut one to get to a brake line union I had made. Don't see a problem with it.
Steve,
I cut a hole just in front of the tube exit when I had my "little" problem. It doesn't really hurt anything (just pisses you off).
Ron,
Yeah, I saw that. I think that's what pinched the tube. The cable gets stuck right at the opening.
