I always thought that /4 and /6 steering wheels have different splines due to the use of 911 steering column and ignition switch.
What say the collective?
There you go, thinking again .............. They're the same. In fact, 356 steering wheels are probably the same, as well, and lotsa VW ones, too. The Cap'n
My big brain needs exercise....
I thought the difference is between the early wheels and the late wheels regardless whether they are 6 or 4?
From what I've been able to figure, there is early -4, late -4, and -6. All have the same splines, but the canceling ring and mounting depth are different. -6 is the same as early 911. This is all based on my frustration with trying to mount a Momo wheel on an early -4 column.
There's a bigbitch session going on over the issue over a 914 wheel some guy wants 750 bucks for....

Even the repro round hockey puck buttons are getting stupid money....
Mike,
I have noticed you have been posting a bit on Early911Sregistry.com. As you spend more time there you will see these guys are VERY good with these sorts of things and are able to pick apart anything. In particular Corpanzer is really into his steering wheels and was one of the first people there to set out doing his own double wrap wheel...and perfecting it.
Glenn Stazak of the 914/6 registry is also an expert on these wheels and has written a very detailed description of what will work and what won't work based on ALL the 914# steering wheels.
This thread over on RoadGlue is a bit more concise than the one over on Early911S.

This is Jeffery Spellman's work of Zuffenhaus...some of the best Porsche wheels. He has done a very accurate repro of the 911R wheel.
