lol

it's the plate on the bottom of the sump on 73+ cars that came with factory installed oil temp gauges.

all engines have the spot for them, but the plates with the temp sender were for console (or, rarely, combo guages in the cluster) with oil temp... which started in 73...

There you go. That "plate" is for an optional temperature sensor for use with a console gauge. The sensor goes in the hole in the plate. It's most often referred to as a "taco plate".

Why would a German car have a "Taco" plate?

Shouldn't it be a "streusal" plate? Or maybe a "crepes" plate??? Or how about a "doberge cakes" plate???

I always love Taco Salad, when they make the big shell crispy and pile it high. Dont forget the corona w the lime sticking out of the top.

A guy by the name of Phil Eslin over on the samba makes them. It took me a while to find... but I was looking for some sort of replacement for the stock piece of crap taco plate. Because of its small size and design, I'm pretty sure the fins don't aid in cooling at all.

I'm not sure we have a word for "Taco" in German.

There's no Mexican food in Germany. Nor do we have any Mexicans for that matter.

Could be. I never heard of a Taco before i moved to the US. Or had any Mexican food.
A shame really as good Mexican food is just that, very good!

I just looked it up on my trusted German online dictionary, and it doesn't give me any results for Taco ...
