I think my dad and I are planning on swinging by to check it out, but unfortunately not in the 914 yet.
1) I haven't pulled my engine yet.
2) I worked my ass off at the lake for the last two weeks
3) I missed the German Car Fest
4) I just cooked the wife a nice dinner and bought her a guitar today
I'm going down to ask right now.
Chappy, Are you enttying the car show?
I'll call Kelly, Paul and Bill too. I don't have anyone elses number.
I am but i dont know what class, there are many to choose from, street car or car show class.
Cant decide what shoes to wear - Phone Dials or Fuchs.
Cool! I just cleared it. Were staying over at Kelly's house Saturday night. He said the event starts like 7:00-7:30 am. I guess there's a photo shoot too. I left a message for Paul and Bill.
You should wear the 928 style "Dials" and park next to me. Just don't let the judges put us in the same class. I don't want my dirty lil Alien to get spanked. JK
Dials or Fuchs

Tough call! Start a pole!
Rick i just remembered, you cant go till September......
Excellent I get to see the alien!
As for the wheels...I don't know they both look excellent.. what about phone dials on one side and the fuchs on the other? ha!
I talked to Bill. He said he will be by to visit but didn't think his 914 is nice enough to show. Really, It's a vary nice reliable driver. If it were mine I would enter the car show for fun.
I got a pm from Paul. He said we would stop by for a few minutes. Sounds like he has a full dance card.
I also got an email from a local guy that lives near me. His name is Ross. I guess he and his son Seth are planning on coming down to check out the cars. He's building a Suby swap and was interested in Chappy's intercooler placement. Ross has a bitchin Manx with a Suby engine. Very nice work! Here's a link to his site.

"Ross has a bitchin Manx"
Yes i would say he does..... Nice work Ross....
I think a pair of small fans like i have for my car would work, duct it through a grill on trunk lid.

I'm getting ready to head out this morning, see you there...
Sandy and I are home from the show. Wierd stuff always happens on road trips and this one was no exception. On the way to Kelly's I pulled over on the shoulder of the road to check a highway sign and drove right into a fresh strip of tar about 3/4 " deep. I picked up gravel about 1 1/2 " thick around both right side tires. As it started to chunk off it filled the wheel wells with hunks of tar mixed gravel. We were fortunate enough to stay the night at Kelly's house. He had all the solvents and jack and tire dressing to clean the mess up.

I took some pictures today i hope to post later....
Great day with good friends and nice cars. Sandy and I followed Kelly and his son Kyle. Thanks to his knowledge of the metro roads we managed to avoid the Labrya tar pits all the way to the show. Chappy and his son Olli parked right next to us. Some of the people that showed up to hang out and chat were Paul (Phoenix MN), tdiddy and his dad, Paul (lotus 65) and his daughter Soffi, Ross (914Subaru) and his son Seth and Bill (wbertho).
Chappy's car was an outragous hit! And Kelly took 2nd in the concours!

Great to see everyone! Congrats Kelly! Car looked great!
Hi Chappy,
Thanks for taking the time to talk to me at the show. I really enjoyed seeing an example of a beautiful signal orange 914 up close in person. Hopefully one day I'll be repainting my saturn yellow car, and now signal orange is definitely back in the running as one of the options.
And thanks for reminding me about 914World. I've spent a fair amount of time at 914Club, but hadn't gotten around to registering here. More sources of info is a good thing. Looks like there are several guys from the Twin Cities area who frequent 914World.
I still haven't gotten my 914 running since I fixed it , so I suppose I'll be posting some questions here soon.
Brian
My car came in last place for any of those who wish to know.
They didn't even bother judging it........
Nord Stern is a good ole boys club. If your not a CW there is no voting. Just peoples choice. And you have to know people.
yea, some people ask "why".
but if you have to ask that, you'll never understand.
maybe the only way to show the value of your build to them (not to say you should care) is to track it, maybe get a 3rd party eval-

Rick and I may not of had consideration for best of show, but we definitely had the most interest and attention of any car there.....
I came across a bunch of pics of Rick's and Chappy's rides on another local european car forum, Eurowerks.org. Unforutnately no pictures of Kelly's car. Though I do have to share this story: a little more than a year ago when I was looking for a 914 to purchase, I wanted to find a picture of one to use as my desktop on my computer at work. So I searched through the first couple of pages on google image search and I settled on this nice blue narrow bodied car. Last week I'm looking for something on the computer and come across the picture again, after taking a closer look at it I thought man that car looks familiar, wait a minute it was Kelly's car. So last summer I spent a month staring at Kelly's car everday at work.
Coooolll... How about a link to the thread. I could stare at Kelly's car for a couple months too.
