914World.com _ 914World Garage _ what are these wires for?

Posted by: RJMII Jun 23 2009, 12:17 AM

The diagrams I was looking at were slightly vague about where these wires go...

they used to go to my relay board.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

I recently disassembled mine; here's what I have in my notes from my 1972/4. Looking at the plug, where the (O) is the locating pin, no wire, and the O designates the pins with wires:

CODE

2   O  (O)  O 1
4   O       O 3
6   O       O 5
8   O       O 7
10  O       O 9
12  O       O 11
14  O       O 13

Then I have this for the colors by above pin number:
1: yellow
2: blue, gen
3: grey/pur, back-up lights
4: grey/pur, back-up lights
5: green/brown, oil pressure
6: (empty)
7: black/pur, tach
8: black, keyed +12 ign
9: green/white
10: brown
11: (empty)
12: red
13: black/red
14: red

(3,4,5,7,8 were the only wires I was looking for, so that's why they are the only ones above with a labeled purpose)

Dave, that helps some. thank you. (what were you doing to your car? I think you picked out most of the same wires that I did?)

there are two for the back up lights? Do I wire these two straight to the transimssion?

I removed the engine and installed an electric motor: http://www.evalbum.com/2500, and 3,4,5,7,8 were the only wires I needed off the relay board.

Well, as I removed the relay board, those two are now connected to my reverse light switch on the trans instead of running through the relay board.

Are you trying to re-assemble the relay board, or something more like what I did?

Blue, Pin 2: Goes from your alternator to the alternator light in your gauge

Green/Red, Pin 5: Goes from your Oil Pressure switch to the oil idiot light in your gauge

Green/White, Pin 9: Comes from the heater fan switch, goes to relay 55

Green, Pin 11: Comes from relay 55 and goes to the heater fan

I can't really tell the other wire colors. Your picture is too fuzzy ...

Assuming your car is 73 or newer, use the diagrams below to trace the wires from the relay board.

Mine were connected to the Flux Capacitor.. which is what makes time travel possible.

Ahh... Thank you Andy! Somehow I managed to not DL the legend for the wiring diagram.

I'll try to take a less fuzzy picture for you.

and the car is a 76.
