I have a few of the outie tranz drain plugs and want to get some more, but all of the replacement parts are innies. WTF? In the PET many models with p/n 999 064 019 02 and 020 02 are outies so you can use a wrench on them and be happy. No 17mm allen needed. All of the suppliers I found had the same damn allen plugs assigned to the old part number. If I could find some I would buy a bunch and offer them on all of my rebuilds.

What is the thread size? You can get 20mm dia X 30mm bolts from mcmaster carr, which should work, and are easier to get...
The thread is NPT so it is tapered. The problem I am having with the standards is that they are soft and people keep tightening them down flush which is way to much.
If that is NPT, go to a plumbing supply house...there must be a real plumbing supply place near you...NOT home depot...
That is a standard gas fitting stopper.

Well, maybe not NPT, but a tapered fitting. Is there a metric version of NPT? I will check the good hardware store tomorrow

Got one with my Sears tap and die set and have used it a lot.
It is M24 x 1.5 tapered.

Have you tryed welding a suitable bolt to the plug to remove it vs drilling and easy outting ??
The heat should help break it loose some .

I MAP gassed the plugs for a while and they did not budge. Drilling them out was the best, safest, quickest bet. I hate doing it, but it works.
If finding the correct " outie " plug is impossible what about having " innies " welded with a short section of allen wrench in them? That would turn them into outies correct? Have the section of allen wrench protrude aprox. 3/4 - 1 inch so you can put a socket on it?

Huh, PET has different part numbers. I wonder.
I'm using a yellowed 1974 vintage factory parts manual that hasn't been updated. The PET has updated numbers that may be later substitutes.
Looked at the sporto tranny page in the parts manual and it actually has an enlarged picture that shows the plugs as having hex male heads with the same .007 and .008 numbers....
I'd check the dealer or another source for those 999.xxxx part numbers to see if they have them or can get them. At the least you could get a max price.

It also appears that a M24 1.5 thread is used on oil pan drains... not sure if it is tapered or not....
