There will be the traditional meet and greet BBQ Friday afternoon at the James M. Robb Colorado River State Park in Fruita, Colorado.
Saturday morning will give way to a beautiful drive up over the http://www.nps.gov/colm/, and down the twisty Highway 141 to Gateway, Colorado for lunch and a visit to the http://www.gatewayautomuseum.com/! We will conduct a Show and Shine while we are in Gateway.
Saturday afternoon, we will drive back to Fruita. Dinner will be on your own. If you like, you are more than welcome to bring your food and drink, as well as lawn chairs and hang out at the campsite! We will have our official bench lawn chair racing session there at the campsite.
Hotel Information:
Thanks to the Wine Festival and Triathlon (busy time of year) we (Val) were able to only set aside a total of 19 rooms. Pretty much the whole valley is booked! It will be at the LaQuinta, which is right next door to the campground (perfect). The Manager at LaQuinta will hold 19 rooms for us until August 18th. If they are not reserved by then, he will open them up so others can reserve them. We did get a discount rate, it is still a bit on the pricey side though .

If tent camping and money saving is your thing, you can go online and reserve a tent space at the http://coloradostateparks.reserveamerica.com/camping/James_M_Robb_Colorado_River_State_Park_Fruita_Section/r/campsiteSearch.do?search=site&contractCode=CO&parkId=50069 for $14 a night! Also Val and I have reserved the http://parks.state.co.us/NR/rdonlyres/0623605A-6189-4600-8031-CBDE1185F3C9/939/Fruitatentsites1728.pdf (A-F) that is right next to the tent camping. So if you do need a tent spot or a spot for an RV or Trailer, we have already paid. This area will ensure a spot to have the Meet and Greet BBQ as well as a place to hang out (quiet hours begin at 10pm).
There will also be "unofficial activities" if anyone decides to show up early, just let us know you are going to be early. We will quite possibly have a quick drive over the http://www.sangres.com/nationalforests/grandmesa/index.htm The Grand Mesa offers the most Alaska-like terrain I have ever seen outside of Alaska!
Shirt Order Has Been Placed as of August 1st. http://z8.invisionfree.com/ClubNARP/index.php?showtopic=5255
This promises to be a good time, and an excellent chance to check out Colorado's scenery. This late in September, it should be cooling down a bit. The leaves should also be changing, making for some spectacular views!

What I want to know is: Is the Norcal 2007 RRC Boy Band going?
There's been talk of a reunion...

I was in Fruita this spring on 2 wheels, can't wait. I LOVE that place!

Stopped glowing a few years ago. All the Uranium mines are closed. No wonder you didn't call me! I still have a question for you when you get a chance.
Hmmm, maybe this might be a good premier for my car?
You ain't got the tits to wear that shirt Mike .... give it to Wade.
For updated Hotel info!
Just reserved a room for RRC. there are 17 remaining. The Lady I talked to said that we started with 19 not 20. She knew the group and the rate was correct.
Outstanding! I was sure he said we had twenty...but I am sure 19 will suffice in combo with the campground. If all else fails, I will open up my backyard!
64 days!
what... Fruita? Home of Mike the Headless Chicken??
wish i could be there-
Yes, it is home of http://www.miketheheadlesschicken.org/index.php

Thanks Gint!
Just sent the $.
Check's in the mail...
Awesome Gint!
Reminder: 3 days left to order shirts!
what's Sunday looking like, breakfast then home?
trying to decide if it's going to be worth the trouble to bring the bike and find time to ride.
Breakfast then home Ferg. We have not really planned anything for Sunday.
Cool, sound like a good time to ride then.
Now attending: Brant and the Ginters!
(that sounds like a band name)
WHAT ABOUT SILVA & THE EVER SO SLOW BRAIN BRIAN?
Hey, it's 40 miles closer than Moab to trailer your cars!
Someone call Brian, he needs to leave soon to make it.
Hi Brian
Is Greg Robbins going? I can't be the only 968 ... again ... and again ... and ag............
- Nelson
I have not heard from Greg at all. Shoot him a PM. I have not heard from Ernie or Jason either....speaking of the AZ folks...
Welcome Wild 6 to the RRC ranks!
Perfect! Although I had to slow things down again... ThinAir (Ernie) just joined the ranks as well!
Just a quick reminder: The Tee Shirt Order Deadline is at Midnight!
http://z8.invisionfree.com/ClubNARP/index.php?showtopic=5255 or just send me a PM!
The Gateway event has been reserved! It will include a dining area, a sandwich and soup bar, an auto museum ticket and parking on the museum lawn for our show-n-shine!

On the 45 day counter at the top of your page!
Hey all, I just spoke to Sandy about this event again. Were still on the fence but not out. Were not signed up yet but we may be coming. We have taken two major vacations this year in the car. One to the East Coast and one to the West. I'm going to do a budget tonight. We shall see.
Just tried to make a reservation. They asked me to hold, sent the phone on the counter not on hold, checked in a guest or two, then things got quite for about ten minutes. I could hear back ground noise and an occasional paper noise but they never picked up the phone. I tried calling back but it only rang with no answer. I bet they will notice the phones off the hook soon..
Were still on the fence kids.
OK, I have a reservation. Thats as far as I can go for now. At 14 MPG estimated fuel cost is $ 600.00 This will be another "G" I need to get to work.
I am very pleased to announce that Lord Joe Sharp and his Lady Betsy will be attending RRC 2009!
Best news of my day!
Ferg
This has trouble written all over it.....
I'm down like Charlie Brown. paypal sent.
Wow! That was huge!
Wish I could make it this year but we've had plans scheduled for months over that weekend.
I keep reading this thread for updates all the time for some reason.. :?!
Room booked.
When I called they said they were all booked up, but when I mentioned red rocks classic they said they had availability - so remember to mention this when you call.
Good idea, please don't forget to mention "914world, clubNARP or Red Rocks Classic" when booking a room. They do still have rooms set aside for us!
I will not be going. Had rotator cuff surgery. Out of the commission for awhile. Getting old is not fun.
Bill Shaffer
Hopefully the wife's car is running for RRC as well....currently it is:
Special thanks goes out to MikeZ and Joe at NBD Graphics!!!
I also have met two local 914 owners on two separate days. One is a definite and the other a maybe for attendees for RRC!
(I have noted that people look at me like I am nuts when I chase them down until they stop somewhere and run up to talk to them....it's kind of fun to do actually! )
Found an older (retired-ish) lady at the Vdub gig at Bandimere last Sunday. She said they lived on the western slope and owned a 914. I pointed her your direction.
Excellent! Thanks Gint!
Please also welcome Mike Oberg and Kuvy to RRC09!
Our judging lawn for the Show-N-Shine:
Time for a drive?:
I may have to have a high quality sound recorder for this one!
I hope 2010 will happen also , I have been to Tahoe a million times , hell , I got married there. I really enjoy the scenery the RRC offers and the members that attend.
Will "that guy" from last year show ?
Hey, will there be a hose at the hotel or a car wash close to the venue so the World travelers will be able to clean the road grime of when they arrive?
I'm asking cause I drove half way across the country twice this year and both times I ran through some of the most foul weather you can imagine. By the time I arrived both times my car looked like it had a flat black paint job and the splattered bugs made it look like I was attempting to fertilize a Chia farm.
I will guarantee a venue for a washing. Worse case scenario, you can borrow my driveway, bucket, garage, kids....etc..
Shirts are in! Like last year....
One month!!!!!
30 Days! Register Now!
This will be epic.
For a added bonus, I will drive my car to the event and not use one single bit of blue painters tape to protect it from rock chips. That's right folks, unprotected.
All must be there to witness such a unheard of event.
Ferg
I think you need to go check yourself into the ER Ferg! Something is definetly wrong here!
A HUGE thanks to Paul(Spunone) for his donation to the the event. Someone will go home with some good bling for their dash and center console!
Thanks Paul!
Also, PMB Performance(Eric Shea) has made a donation that will stop you in your tracks!
Thanks guys! You make the events that much better!
Working on another recruit for the trip.
Some of the guys will be biking:
And they will drees up like this:
and go down the hills like this:
Is the dude in the cute pink outfit Eric Shea?
25 days left! I know I am not the only one excited!!! (and yet so much crap to do.......)
I still havn't heard from the driver of this car:
He needs to relearn how...I know some people would like to see him... some people....
Thank you Mike!
for the last set of pictures taken of my car with the big black bumpers!
23 Days!
I have attached the Plan of Events for those who want to be in the circle of trust rust.
I hope this will help a little with the organization of things.

Oh, by the way, I plan to take advantage of one of those tent spots Eric, if that's OK. Yeah, I'm gonna camp out this time! I enjoy it actually.
What...? I can be quiet after 10pm ... if given the proper incentives. (opens door, waits for it...)

22 Days!!
Hey, I got a picture from that spot Fun trail!
Attached image(s)
Well, I was enjoying my sandwich ...
21 Days!
Need I say more?
Just sent the office manager an email stating my intension of taking time off. Now if I can get him to cut off my work 5 days before I have to leave I'm in.
Still on the fence.
P.S. I think the Corona photo's did it.
I picked up a running 914 about 3 weeks ago. I may actually drive a 914 to a 914 event!!
The list says my wife is coming, but I am bringing my brother instead.
Is anyone else up for hitting some of the mountain bike trails in Fruita earlier on Friday or sometime on Saturday?
I was originally thinking I would bring my bike, but now, I'm stuck at work till at least 3pm on friday... I may just bring my running shoes instead.
Ferg
for our newest registrants!
The 75 is wearing a new smile for the occasion! (even went on a no-BBB diet!)
Today Val's 2056 just jumped right up in the engine bay....I guess it is excited to be at an RRC with more than three cylinders!
I'll see if I can't get a pic in the Porsche museum with my RRC shirt on!
today, fixed loose front shock to strut for good. new wheel bearings in the front and an oil change and oil leak fixed (I hope). Tomorrow, fix backup light switch, find and fix a rattle in the back somewhere then it's ready for re-registration.
I am glad I am not the only one feeling a little swamped. Got 2 914's to get ready now that the event is most of the way done....I have most of the awards done.... wooohooo!
Third brake light installed, Might need a clutch though, 14 yr old doing laps at the high school showing me the brake light.
Attached image(s)
Sweet Jeff! Your car sure reminds me of this beauty!
Check out the seats!
i got em.
18 days!
All of Val's electrical and fuel is hooked up. Vaccum is mostly done (still need to figure out why I have one extra hose) One axle is on.
Still need exhaust, clutch cable, speedo cable and the other axle on....then the attempt to fire it up!
fixed license plate lights & wiring. Cleaned up the wheelwells and wheels today.
Welcome Mr. Eric Shea to the RRC 09 madness!!!!
........yup, he finally came to his senses!
Now... to camp or not to camp.
16 Days...... do you know where your Cazadores is?
Are there any drives planned on Sunday, 20 Sep? I've just purchased a '73 914 , and my wife and I would love to hook up with you folks on the 20th, for some aspen viewing and mountain driving . Our daughter has volleyball matches on Friday and Saturday, so we won't be able to get away until Saturday evening at the earliest.
John
John, welcome to the board! Helluva first post! I like it! The fun really doesn't start until Saturday night usually! Worse case, Val and I will be around Sunday for a drive around the Mesa or over the Monument!
Come join us!!! (and there is no Registration fees if you show up Saturday night!)
I'll be driving back to New Mexico on Sunday ... not sure if south is the way you'd want to go, but I knwo the roads back through Ouray - Silverton - Durango should keep my on my toes! Anyone's welcome to try to keep up with pass me on that part of my sojourn since I don't know that road as well as I used to.
- Nelson
Just don't plan on making good time through Ridgway.
Thanks for the warm welcome! I hope that we can make it out on the 19th, so that we can hook up with you all. The forums here have already been a big help to me with a couple of technical issues on my car, that I'll make the subject of a separate thread.
15 days!!!!
Damn close to two weeks!
I just need to mount the muffler and add oil to Val's car...then it is lightoff time!
May the Gods of Hydrocarbons smile upon your efforts!
Two weeks from now...I will be chilling, drinking a beer...and waiting for you all to arrive!
Val's car is together...not running...but together....
I've got a new front bumper to install, a crane optical to install, and a front valance to repaint. I'm ignoring the trans leak, and small motor leak at the moment. Other than that, I'm ready now.
Sweet Ferg! I am looking forward to seeing your deal of the century!
I fixed a dripping taco plate on Val's car yesterday. Still need to change out the speedo drive o ring. Now that I have the fuel issue resolved anyways...
I need to mount my rear bumper on the 75 and paint the front valance and rockers as well. It is coming together though.
I've got some parts on order. I have a cam seal leaking and dripping down on my alternator causing it to fail then restart then fail... I'm working 7 days a week again so If I don't get the seal changed I will at least have to clean my alternator and wrap it in plastic or something for the trip.
A cool photo op will be at Driggs Mansion....hopefully with less snow than when I took these!
TTT
We are just about ready!
Ditto, Crane XR700 installed today, Bumper in route.
Now do I want to do the TPS now, or put it off...
BTW, I have a mini keg of Bell's Oberon I'll be brining along. If you are from MI you will understand.
12 days
Speaking of mini-kegs, Mike and I just got back from Germany and there were a plethora of mini-kegs to be had there. I should have just left all my clothes in Germany and filled my suitcase with beer. Not more than 50 lbs, though.
My priorities are out of whack.
Sounds like your priorities are in the right place to me Sharon! Glad you guys made it back safely! Hope you had fun!
While flying around google earth...I decided to pull this image of the Colorado National Monument!
Nah, I'll let you be "that guy" who drives a 911 to a 914 event
Glad the road signs in Fruita are easy to understand
Attached image(s)
I will explain them to you Ferg....when you get here...
Attached image(s)
Anyone see 7lbs. ?
not yet...... why? do you have 7 pounds in ya?
My 911 is currently carrying the heart for my 914 so... he's not to be hassled.
So it is "That Car" then?
He must have had a plethora of beer before he passed out on the floor like that......
I hope no one starts it while he is passed out like that.....he would be running around with his hair on fire!
....just because I am getting really excited!
Got the car re registered after a 6 month non-op YA-ES!
New front bumper is installed Think I will leave the tits off for now, even though the rear still has them, it's like a reverse 73
You could do A cups on the front like I did. I like em!
Sorry to be solemn...but, don't forget the day.
May I also remind everyone......
Henna's bored................
She's ready!
I'm heading out to the garage to fix a oil leak coming from my right cam seal. I had a custom hi-output alternator built. (1 wire small frame GM 170 amp) I have a hard wired power inverter to run a laptop so Sandy and I can both work while traveling. My Bosch 70 amp. couldn't keep up. Well my 170 amp unit died last week. The auto electric guy thinks the oil dripping down on it kilt it. I think the bearings gave up. I have to really tighten the belt because the engine revs up so fast that the belt slips.
So, I have to pull the alternator. The alternator guy isn't open until Monday. I will have to drop the thing off on Monday, pick it up on Tuesday, install it Tuesday night, and get ready to leave Wednesday night... Oh, and I am working 7 days a week yet (In my best Arnold Swartzenager)I need a vacation....
Oil leak fixed. I found a missing "O" ring behind the cam seal. doh!
Alternator out! Back to my paper work!
If there is anyone who is camping and would prefer a room, I've got a room with 2 beds and my son can't come so I'm willing to split the room with someone.
4 DAYS!!!!!!
just because I can!
Attached image(s)
While Wills Wantingly Welds , I will bump this for socalandy who is now bringing his wife Karen along to enjoy the festivities!
I'm pretty much ready, can I skip work and leave now please
Looks like the weather will be cooperating and clearing up for us! I hope anyways!
I'm really sorry to say this but Betsy and I will not be in attendence. When I singed up I had not checked the calender and had a prior commetment. I believe that this is the "The 914 Party of the Year" and I will have missed it for the second time. I won't make that mistake again. Anyway "PARTY ON" and I will miss you all.
Dammit Joe! That sucks, but we'll tip a few in your honor.
I should probably go out and see if my 914 will still start. It's been a coupe of weeks.
Heading out to install my alternator. I just picked up an oil filter. I go over to the local quick change place and bring my own oil and filter. So I have to fit this in somehow tomorrow.
Weather update:
Now mostly sunny with a high of 85 deg. and a low of 58 deg. !
Perfect!!
That's good drinking weather.
Beer droppage is a danger we all must face from time to time!
I am so jealous. Me and McMark actually discussed flying in - renting a car but there are no major airports close to Grand Junction. We would have had to drive 300 - 500 miles. It would have been doable from Salt Flake City to Moab...
Have fun... If anyone does cartwheels through the sprinklers be sure to take pictures...
Heading out t the car right now. I'll post later!
Fly into SLC and you can ride in the assdragger. Jeff, Suzie and I will be caravaning Friday AM.
Bring condoms and lube. Slits isn't coming so I won't have a date.
(new Discovery Channel Show)
"Lame Excuse Busters"
Fruita is the same as Moab from SLC time-wise. You stay on I-70 at 80mph vs. UT-191 at 50 behind an RV towing more RV's.
Next excuse please Dr. Slime!
Ok, So were 250 miles closer to the RRC. My last trip earlier this year to the WCC I was getting about 12-14 MPG. I did some work to my F.I. since then. My first gas stop yielded 21 MPG. If that trend continues I'll be pleasantly surprised.
Food is lined up and I am ready to go.

that stuff.... in the green bag.... I found some of them in my shorts yesterday, lmao!
Iffin you are finding something that looks like that in your shorts......you are doing it wrong!

It is gonna be a hectic next couple days. Probably very little computer time. If anyone runs into trouble or needs to get a hold of me my number is 970 six nine one 5270.
See y'all tomorrow!!!!!
....and see some of you today!
What is the time for kicking off the BBQ on Friday? I'm trying to figure out how soon I need to leave Flagstaff in the morning.
Cool - the beer's in the car. Just a few things to do tonight and I'll be ready to roll in the morning! Are we there yet??
I don't think Mike and I will be there until around 5pm - unfortunately I have to work part of that day.
Hey! is there electricity at the campsite?
I don't know which air pump to bring, reg. or cordless
We decided to stay in Fort Morgan about an hour east of Denver for the night. I have some work I need to get to, so....
I think were heading for Fruita around 8-9 am. That puts us in there around 2-3 pm.
Just in time for the BBQ!
Yo Eric!
What the address for the campsite?
Gps doesn't read name of site.
Kevin, use 550 Jurassic Ct, Fruita, CO ....that is just a couple buildings down from the entrance to the park.
What exit # is it, I can find it from there
Well?
you just want to steal our pictures an tell your friends you went somwhere!!! So here.....
I'm already here
Yup! Andy is here!
Cool! Keep the pictures coming! Hope everybody arives safe and has fun!
Couple of teaser pics.

Despite a little rain, on the way home,
Me and Henna had a blast!
