914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Slick shift...too slick

Posted by: Seagrave Mar 8 2004, 08:43 PM

So here I am cruising home on the warmest day of the year and as I shift down from 4th to 3rd, the shift knob comes off in my hand. So I pull over and check the compartment for some kind of packing or threaded fitting or anything that shows me how the knob stayed on so well for all those years. Beats me all to hell. Can one of you guys tell me what the prefered method for attachment is (and no, please don't say epoxy)? Thanks.

there is a crush sleve, all the regular parts players have 'em. like 58 cents or something I think.

Ayup, it's probably laying on the floor of your car....somewhere. BTDT.
