Mine has the hard oil line. I think the braided looks nice and probably a bit easier to deal with. Mine was a royal pain to fit correctly.
EDIT, now I see why the braided line....
another oil cooler shot, it's very tight fit

I have a 2.7 and had my oil cooler mounted like in your pictures. It passed for normal street driving, but was not cutting it for the track. Your sucking all the hot air coming off the engine into the cooler. On the track my car would run about 250 deg. I decided to move it up front before I had to buy a motor. Just something to keep an eye on if you go to the track.
with Drew. It only works for sitting in heavy traffic situations.

Wes Hildreth has four cars out there like this now, but they are street cars too. We didn't want to give up the front trunk, yet anyway.
In my first 3.0 car I put a Mocal cooler in the rear quarter under the sail panel, with a fan mounted to it. It was only a street car, but that thing never got close to "too hot", even on a long trip in the summer. I was going to put it there, but I have concerns about putting an oil cooler directly inline with the rear tire.
This car will also have a double grill engine lid.

Its a tough call cutting the front trunk.. even if you use a GT shroud. We have been beating the piss out of a 245hp 3.0 9146 for 3-4 years at track events WITHOUT a extra cooler. It wasnt until we started running full on 20 minute race events that it would start to get hot during the last two laps (even in 100+ degree heat) so I stopped pushing the extra oil coolers unless the person is racing the car. Synthetic oil and properly calibrated/rebuilt gauges with proper sending units yield acceptable oil temps even in San Jose 100 degree traffic heat.

OK, PK...
The money shots are awesome, but lets see the REST OF the CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All of the PICTURES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If this is the PK I am familiar, he is building a great functioning car. Perry, did not know you had joined this Group. Welcome, and will definitely enjoy seeing more of your current car project. More pictures.

Welcome Perry!
Your work looks great as usual. Do you still make the umbrella cover? I may need another one.
Thanks

I plan to do the occasional DE event in the car. WAY back, I wanted to build it into a dual purpose street/track car, but realized that you make too many comprmises with each. Now it is built with "high performance street driving" in mind and I will later look into buying a second car to build exclusively for the track.
I will definitely keep a close eye on the oil temps. If it can't be kept in check with the current setup, I will try adding header tape on the exhasut to keep it in line.
Attached (if I am doing it right) is a picture from a couple of summers ago at a NASA event at the Nashville Superspeedway. Back then it had a mild 1.8 and a mostly stock interrior. Perry and I will post some new pics when the car is finished.

So this isn't Don Haney's old 914/6 car? Anyone know what happened to that one... It was a really nice tub last time I saw it.

Steve,
A guy up here in Mountain View bought the car and assembled it. Kinda did a half ass paint job and half ass reassemble. It looked nice.. but not near as nice as it could have been. He is a british fellow who moved back to the UK for a computer security job.
