Does anyone know the weight diference between a 72 and a 74? How about the weight of a 2.0 liter Fuchs vs a Pedrini?
I'm trying to determine how much less my 72 with Pedrinis weighs than my 74 with Fuchs and A/C.
Thanks for any info!!
i don't have my 914 spec book with me, and curb weights aren't in the '914 Info' area.
'74 bumpers have to be a little heavier than '72, but i don't think they got huge (and heavy) until '75. '74 doors will be a lot heavier than a '72. AC is heavier than imagineable. Fuchs are lighter than the others ...
Pedrinis are ~17 lbs each. Fuchs are ~13 lbs each.
I don't recall seeing any weights for a 72. It would be heavier than the 70-71 because of the improved interior, but I'm not sure how much. The 2.0 engine is I think 30 lbs heavier than the 1.7? I posted it in the "Ludvigsen" thread. The late window mechanism is a little heavier than the early one, and the door beams and reinforcements around the doors are significantly heavier. The only real difference that I recall in the bumpers are the "bumper tits", which are less than a couple of pounds each.
Ignoring the AC, I'd guess at about an 80-lb difference. I've no idea what AC components weigh...

I'd say add 75 pounds for the A/C.....
if you want real numbers....find a trucking company that has a scale, I've done this to get a total weight of the car along with the front and back measurements.........
Thanks for the replies.
I had my 2.2 liter motor from my 74 dropped into the 72, and I have noticed a greater response to my foot on the gas pedal. I was guessing about a 150 to 200 lb difference, and with the answers I received, I was not too far off the mark.
I think it was 50 pounds for the a/c plus how ever much the dash unit is. maybe 75, ya sure. I removed it last weekend (minous dash unit)..
